What did you do to your Z this week?

My early Safari Gold Zed 10/70 build had the wrong head (E88) and big cam. Changed out to a re-freshed E31 head and stock cam.
All going back together after removing the emission pump etc, will save all that in a box.

Mike, out of interest, is that madkaw's e31 head from classiczcars.com?

More clean up on the engine.
Located correct metal fan, early 4 screw SU's, and had the rad gone through.
Need to clean up and polish engine bay now as the engine makes the rest look tatty.

Belly pan and more engine bay clean up. Also got a 2400 valve cover that will be installed next week after clean up. Coming along.

MOT day today - the last official one before the rule change. Unfortunately, I had let my old one lapse so couldn't take it for a decent run before the test and the garage is only 5 mins from the house. to make matter worse, it was the first time I had run it for about 2 months so wasn't sure how it would do especially as we have had all that cold weather in between.

No worries! Started first time, & ran beautifully. Passed the MOT with no advisories so well happy:thumbs::party:

It's funny how all work stopped whilst it was there. Had mechanics around it like bees round a honey pot & had loads of questions. One guy wanted one & asked me if I wanted to sell - no chance!!!

Not surprised, lovely car

Been doing alotta work on the Z the past few months. Mainly interior and have learnt much, will post up on a new thread from start to finish. Tonight, I finished the rear end exterior refurb.. Chuffed with results... Next week, body polish and glaze after a few months in storage under copious amounts of wax, haha.. Then MOT. Can't wait to get her back on the road!.. Seriously happy with some new bulbs in dash, thanks to Mr F..

Tim that looks like new. You do like shiny things don't you? That car has stood up well to RIDDLER'S World Tours.

The last few weeks I've put a lot of time into getting the car to a state when I can think about turning it over. Yesterday my Dad helped me get it running. It's not run for over 10 years.

Here are a few video clips I took today:

As you can see it needs a proper tune, so I'm looking into options to get it done professionally. If anyone can recommend a place local to me (Ashford, Kent) then I would appreciate it :)

Once you balance the carbs it will sound as it should.
The carb spindles can twist and cylinders one and two will be opening more than five and six.

Thanks for that :)

I'm seriously thinking about taking it to a tuning specialist so if anyone can recommend one near Ashford, Kent then that would be handy.

Look up BD Engineering, I forget where exactly but its Kent way and the guy who runs the rolling road is very knowledgeable and familiar with Z's. Well worth the trip and his time.

Excellent, thanks for that. I just checked and they're in Sittingbourne which is only about 30 miles away :)

i turned my rad cap into a pressureless one so it can breath, just need to fit a catch can to the overflow just in case. that evans coolant isnt cheap stuff!

There is a reason the system should be pressurized it increases the boiling point of the coolant unless the Evans coolant is diffrent.
