What did you do to your Z this week?

Not been very active on here recently but have done a few Z bits. Charged my FairladyZ ‘s battery this week! Ready for a return to the road in a week or two.

I’ve done a few bits on Project Dixie too. Just picked up this little lot from my blaster/powder coater (who also runs a TR resto business). Superb quality finish.

Even the U.K. spec anti-roll bar looks good; despite having been dumped outside my garage for the last four years or so!

Also got some rear marker light deletes from Skillard in the US:

Also started sizing up the replacement of the battery tray area...

Good job I bought a mig welder! My blaster is also a Hobbyweld stockist so also picked up a big gas cylinder today.

I rewired the power to the fuel pump. I fitted a relay and inertia switch whilst I was at it since it had been wired straight into the ignition before (and the wire had been run under the drivers mat and then though under the car in a very Heath Robinson fashion).

Where’s your wiring run now Paul?
I followed the existing loom which goes along the driver still, up through the rear pillar into the boot, then I put it through a rubber grommet near the rear lights. It then sits on top of the fuel tank to come forward to the pump which is mounted on the spare wheel well.

That sounds ideal, but a lot of work, it would take me all day to do that!

I pretty much finished test fitting all the bits onto the engine for my first 280Z, just waiting for a BSPT elbow to fit the new IAC below the plenum then I can get it and the exhaust manifold torqued up.
I didn't touch the bottom end as the compression was good and even across all cylinders but all the seals, gaskets and pumps (water and oil) have been replaced.
Also tarted it up a bit and fitted more modern fuel injection.

Yes Mark that does look very smart. You will be opening the bonnet every few minutes to show it off.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for the car to be painted first!
On the plus side I've cleaned, powder coated or painted just about everything I took off the car.

It's actually fine texture black powder coat, not quite as rough as wrinkle.
The owner of a local bike shop did it for me along with all the bigger bits I can't fit in my oven.

5C3492BF-57DA-4CBB-AA09-4C08B1CCF493.jpeg Trip out to Demon Tweeks yesterday to pick up some parts and ended up with some new rear tyres, and today finished off lots of small jobs on the car that should have be done years ago.

Mine passed it's MOT today. It's been off the road for 11 years (1 of those under my ownership) but now the road is our oyster!

Next stop - taking the car to some body shops to get quotes for a little bodywork and a respray :)

Congrats Paul.

Mine has spent the day in a garage in Salford having a new hard brake line made and fitted after an exciting moment on the M6 on sunday.
