The JDM collection grows... and Dixie has some competition for my time.

What colour is the paint work, i really like it, hoping it's something like polo white or white mint! :D

Love it Rich, my car has been garage buddies with a green one of these for the last few months and it is such a cool looking car!

Assuming it’s the original Toyota colour (it’s been resprayed), it would be Toyota 023 White. Does look kinda minty in the photos, although I can’t say I really noticed that in person.

Nice car Richie.

Loved this style of Celica and have always wanted one. Had a 1600ST, TA22 back in the 80s/early 90s and the GT 'Liftback' would have been my upgrade if I could have afforded it at the time. Still have a spare Jeco clock out of it in the garage as a keepsake (the rest of the car didn't survive the tinworm very well:(Celica 1986.jpg Celica 1986-2.jpg

Yeah, I didn't understand that either.
I think Rob is alluding to the fact that the single cam 18R isn’t exactly a powerful engine. I think we are talking sub-100hp (just). In comparison, the 2.0L 18RG twin cam is comparable performance-wise when standard to an L24, and can be tuned and upgraded into the realms of 180-200HP. That’s what I’m planning - ported, polished 18RG head, bigger cams, 44-45mm twin DCOE-style carbs or ITBs, sorted exhaust, etc. The engine blocks, sumps and cranks are the same - it’s a matter of moving the dipstick, and organising around the RG’s format and extra/different bolt-on parts.

But that won’t be happening for a while yet, although I’m already starting to grab parts. I can build the R into an RG, although I’d undoubtedly favour grabbing a full 18RG should one pop up somewhere. Just easier and means the swap over could be done without immobilising the car for weeks.

But more importantly than go - I’m already wheel shopping. 14” Wats are the favourite but being tempted by the idea of some Star Sharks...

Absolutely love this, way cooler than a mustang! I very much approve of your long term plans too.

Clearly you have far too much free time, space and money to have such a sub zero cool and growing JDM fleet :coolgleam:

Delivery day is Friday, so very much looking forward to getting a little time with it at the weekend to go over it properly, make a to-do list, drive it laps around the farm yard, etc! It’ll be full speed ahead with registering it. I want to actually get out and about in it while making tweaks.

I’m also working out arrangements to buy a twin cam head and manifolds at the moment so “Project 18RG” will be a go for the winter. Now need the 5-speed...

Got it! In its new home and had its first quick detail/polish in my ownership. Will be getting to know her better over the weekend and coming weeks as I go through everything.

Also, got home and checked eBay to discover I now own these:

14” one-piece Star Sharks. Real old skool JDM! Refurb needed obviously but should fill out the arches nicely with a bit of lowering too. I’m going to keep the red - very kyusha kai in vibe! Will also work with the red and black side stripes that I will be having (the car likely had some before it’s respray).

I think that'll look great on the Star Sharks, and keeping the centres red is a good call :D

I need my garage rebuilding so I can get two cars in but trying to get decent builders interested is hard the quotes have varied by £25K....

Nice car, even nicer garage.
Not my home garage! That’s currently dominated by Project Dixie and everything associated with it. This is a storage barn/workshop I share with ChrisVega 25 mins from home. Both the Celica and my red Z will live there until my home double garage gets tidy enough (as Dixie gets reassembled) for one of them to come home. That’s likely to lead to a rotating situation once all three are usable!

for £25k you could build a nice triple bay Oak framed garage.
You would think so but I'm West London and one quote was £60K! It did include a pit :) I'm trying to get a national company to build one but they don't want to come inside the M25. Need it before winter really
