Selling my last Z (but never say never).

Looking at the paint-scheme, I always fancied doing this to a Z32 with black over red :

"with Samuri ‘in period’ sold top mounts" typing too fast Mr Gaskin ;)

As you say, some improvements/changes to be effected by the next owner and if I may be sold bold (if it was I) :

swap out the wheels and mirror
fit stainless wiper blade holders and the front bumper
remove the spare from the boot

Just not quite sure of the bumper-less rear - just too much squared off for my taste....maybe needs a fibre-glass one lightly 'plumbed' in to break up the painted mass under the rear lights.....?

Not much really, not expensive and quick to do. Maybe a half, rear cage in case I get over eager in the bends

Wheels - I was offered the Minilites wheels/tyres off my blue car today. The spare is on top of another.

Mirror - yes ugly but has been on the car for years and is very functional.

Front bumper - I now have a good bumper (the one on the car when I bought it was rusty)

I also have a rear FG bumper.

Is the wife included or did you grow your hair long ?

You drove around with two spares....? Bad roads your way or twice bitten...carry twice the 'fix-it' ?

Yes, I read in the add that you have a front.

I was thinking something along the lines of this (see photos) - no corner rubbers.

That's a solid advert there Rob, how much interest have you had or, a better question: how many serious offers?

To be honest I've been surprised by the lack of interest - one guy wanted me to part-ex it against his Metro 6R4 replica that he valued at £65k. I would have done that for a real one!

I sold my 350Z, 370Z, trackday 240Z and blue 240Z from adverts on Pistonheads but again interest was less than expected apart from my trackday car which was a bargain.

That's interesting, I personally would have thought there was more interest. I like the idea of it going to a club member, at least we'd see it more. Just make sure it doesn't leave the country haha looking at you Sean :p

It'll sell Rob, just have to sit it out. It was listed for a while before you bought it. The right buyer will come along.

You are not the only one who is saying that to me.

Sean, I would like to sell it to someone who understands it's huge and interesting history and buys it to continue to run and steadily improve it as previous owners have done. They don't have to participate in Club-life, or keep it in the UK.

My old trackday car was sold to someone who did just that - he took it on another adventure from his home in Brittany. He competed in Malta and on the Monte Carlo Historic and I was really 'chuffed' for the car because I had virtually finished trackdays and it was stagnating in my garage. I know where the car is now too and again it's being 'refreshed'. When I bought that car it was in a poor state.

I've just sold my Blue 240Z after doing a lot of 'improving' to it and the new owner is taking it to a new life. His first rally is July 18 and he loves the car. He has fitted narrower, 65 profile tyres which he says has improved the 'driving' greatly. I know what he means.

I've done a few jobs on this car (a lot less than Jonathan) but it needs more to get it to where I'd like it e.g. it still has the Samuri 'mod' of solid topmounts/no bearing. If I had a decent garage I wouldn't consider selling it but jobs are just too complicated because everything has to be done on my drive so the weather has to be right, the car has to be pushed out of the garage, all my tools and jacks/axle stands etc etc have to be carried out. If the car is then immobile it has to stay on the drive and the tools put away. My daily-driver is then on the road. The car needs covering and then what usually happens is that the next few days are wet!

I've done this for 25 years on Zs and 50+ years on all cars. Never had anything other that a tiny single garage.

The car doesn't look right with a rear bumper (IMO) :EXTRAcool:

How much are you asking for your 240z?
