MZR podcast - good chat with Rahail

I know they do but I said consulting fans not customers
They're a business and out to make money. Unless these fans you speak of are going to spend a shed-load of money with them why would they be bothered? Looks like they have enough work and no doubt customers waiting so I can understand them not focusing on enthusiasts.

They post daily on Instagram, I know it’s not quite a forum but they’re certainly putting themselves out there, more self promotion I suppose.

I think they try very hard to keep their brand unique by not sharing too many details. I’d love to know who makes their wheels etc, but if we did I guess we’d all want them and that would possibly de-value the brand.

Please don't quote a post of mine out of context and order.

This was the Thread it was posted in:

I was just going to post the link Rob - and point taken, but i do feel there is reasonable context in the other attachments I included.

I didnt include any other narrative - but there are references in this thread ( be it consultations , open days or whatever) to possible relationships with MZR and 'the club', and why he isnt a member / trader, contributer :

zclub.jpg

I was simply including a bit of history ............

Some of the points in his posts at the time , are very relevant to his business now ( albeit granted 'the club'didnt know that at the time - this was to be his business) - viewed with hindsight ....:

- He felt the forum talked down the value of the cars
- Quote ' Do you wonder why the so called big dogs on the zed scene dont ever show their faces on here '
- He mentioned picking cars to bits and the 'marque' being pulled down etc. ( with refrence to clean solid lhd to rhd conversions)

- and the club treasurer did call him an 'extremely aggressive and abusive person' in a public forum (and granted - that was in response to an aggravated initial post from him ........)

I'm not making anything of the above- I offered no criticism of you/the club ( his post is now there to see.... ) . I'm not an MZR customer . Im unlikely ever be able to afford to be.
It was 9 years ago - 2 years before MZR was incorporated . My post was there merely to draw attention to what he has posted, some of his views on the club , and his attitude towards it at the time , with refrence to this thread .

Just saying , with the above in mind - perhaps the coffee and croissants, or a Z- Club themed MZR , may be a little way off ( he may even remain aloof ) .

To quote Sean:
It’s probably not his fault he’s not a ‘club’ person – we all bitch about this and that on here – maybe time to convince him of the positive aspects of a better and closer ‘relationship’ ?

It seems to me that this mostly comes from back in the day after it was proposed at an AGM that when an advert/classified was placed on the forum it had a restricted viewing for subscribed members only for a period of time and then was opened up after that period to all visitors to view

Unfortunately the club could not find a way of automating this system and it fell on the Committee members ( mostly me) to carry out the task of initially placing the advert in the first stage of restricting viewing ( access) to Paid up Members only and then after the time period elapsed to alter the access so all visitors could view them

It may sound a simple task but because nobody could work out how to automate the system it turned into a pain for the person trying to carry it out manually

What also became apparent was that the people who moaned most about the system were the people who were placing the adverts as they felt that the 7 day delay on their goods being on view was some sort of disaster in the goods being sold

I would also like to say that a couple of members who regularly sold parts on the site decided to become traders on the site to enable their goods to be shown in their own section straight away

But hey It all got changed again after a vote at a later AGM to allow everyone to be able to view all classifieds whether they are placed by a paid-up member or a visitor

Why doesn't somebody reach out to him to rejoin, life is to short to hold these grudges/past posts etc

i don't blame him that he is not selling his developed parts, he has spent money designing them and needs to recoup this.

the interest in the marque is good and we all acknowledge the quality of what the do.....

There's a clue in the thread title. Rahail is the 'R' in MZR.
In partnership with Martin, who is a well-known body and paintwork artisan, and who is the 'M' in MZR Roadsports.

C'mon, let's make an effort to keep up to date shall we but this is compeltely off track.

I don't care about what happened in the past, when I joined this club it was just after the schism with the clubs' parts dpt being VAT registered to enlarge and provide the club with funds for, hiring Goodwood circuit amongst other projects and events which led to Lynne, current Chairwoman resigning and beginning the Classic Z Register to stay a small, close-knit club scene. No finger pointing, just the facts.

So I don't care that Fourways' car-boot sale flopped - I don't look back and see what's failed unless only to note how not to. There are many more members who don't know the clubs' and traders' histries and frankly don't want to and this club should be all the better for it.

Rakers-up of old news and nay-sayers - pass on by thankyou very much ; anything is possible with the will to do it and the right support....who planned, paid for and ran Europes' (it was even then) and certainly the UKs' first Japanese car meet and not some underground garage or pub-parking - one of the most important circuits in Britains' motoring history - look at it now ! Who, you ask ? Your club, that is for you who support it and can include yourselves amongst its' membership.

I believe that MZR and other Z specialists could, with the club, lift up higher the public and press awareness of the cars, therefore the club AND profile their businesses. I don't see it as a risk to them...or to the club, in this case, MZR, but as a win/win situation. It remains to be what, how, when and by whom something constructive can be presented to Rahail and also others.

I don’t see what/how MZR would Benefit from ‘joining up’ more.

They’re pretty much nailing what they do and by being elusive they stay exclusive.
not so sure other forums flourish with tuners posting stuff even if they are "high end" shouldn't we be welcoming the interest not just trying to keep the 300 odd cars in the UK in the 70s

There was no overall winner on tonight's Word Salad Lottery, so Wednesday's draw will be a Double Rollover.

they’re not tuners selling products, they’re a Bespoke car builder selling a single ‘product’.

it’s a 1960’s designed car. It’s home is in the 70’s.

shame I live in the 21st century

they are tuner, a good one but a tuner

You could call them a lot of things, but 'Tuner' is probably one of the least appropriate.

They are building complete bespoke-build cars from constituent components, Part Number One being the bare bodyshell itself, and adding their own selection of parts with the aim of making a well-balanced and complete package of content.

I would say the vernacular term 'Tuner' is more likely to refer to an outfit that concentrates on one aspect of an already built - usually recent production - car, with the focus on bolt-on 'upgrades'. Not the same scenario at all.

cf: Eagle E-Types. 'Tuner'? Don't think so... https://www.eaglegb.com/
