What did you do to your Z this week?

My wiper motor was completely dead. It didn’t work at all . I think the wiper mechanism had seized and motor was done.

It came back shiny and fully functioning

I guess I'm wondering how good a fully functioning one is! :) Are they as good as the honda civic conversion in terms of speed/power?

The Honda is def better but it's not straightforward and the motor runs the opposite way. That's not a problem but means that the parking mechanism (if it still works) is engaged so gives a bigger sweep. Link https://zclub.net/community/index.php?threads/wipers.18582/#post-199470

I'm wondering if a modern motor-rewind could improve the Datsun power. It would be good to try this.

The one thing the honda wiper motor doesn't have is something called intermittent function? But does the 240z have a intermittent function in the first place?

The upgrade to Honda can have intermittent with a relay - mine did. I'll give a link later. Gardening just now - with a beer.

No competition there really.

But is that with an original, non-reconditioned/rewound Datsun motor?

As you say, I wonder if they could be rewound and be as good as that honda one.
Standard old motor. I would think it worth a recondition to see.

Bear in mind this was a rally car so needed to work. On a road car they are rarely used in the rain and if it gets bad pull off the road and wait.

A working wiper motor is no use if you can't keep the blades on the screen! Anything over 50mph and they are flapping around all over the place on mine. Tried sorting the springs on the arms by swapping them for others but I suppose most have now become weak so no point in using old ones. Any thoughts on overcoming that and keeping the wiper arms would be useful although I don't plan to take it out in the rain much.

Don't Bosch do a brand of aero blades that have little spoilers on them to keep them down at high speeds?

Oh really? Is that the same for everyone's Z's?

Not done it yet but about to top up the tank and take it to a local car show. First time out since August!
On the way the clutch seemed very light and gears were becoming hard to select.
On the way home it got worse until I had to resort to clutchless changes and starting in gear at traffic lights. Made it home and managed to reverse into the garage without damaging anything.

Checked clutch fluid and it was low. No time to investigate so will have a proper look next time I have some spare time.

Good show, Hyde Heath Fete in Bucks. Even had the Battle of Britain flight Lanc' do a double low level fly past.

Had a cracking weekend at Wiscombe Park hill climb with Hannah sharing the car. The new tarmac had plenty of grip and the sun shone both days/.

Got to within about 1/2 a second from my personal best and hannah was about the same from hers. Car didn't miss a beat all weekend, so that is 3 weekends we have been out with it this year and I can probably say I have finally cured the problem that I have been chasing for about 5 seasons.

Also pleased with how it is handling on softer springs and Bilstein shocks. New brake pads are a great improvement.

Well done Ben and Hannah.

I had Bilstein on my Blue 240 and my son David had Bilstein on his 106GTi. Brilliant - very compliant and shock absorbing.

It sounds very confident, but I doubt they would have been an imperial size. I expect that's the nearest american equivalent.
Everything but the imperial sizes came straight off the jdm-car-parts website:
