What did you do to your Z this week?

Installed these 280zx transmission to engine stiffening things. Just because they came out so pretty after bead blasting.

Is there any official Nissan document about why this part was introduced?

This week, I sealed my manifold air tubes with plugs. If you do this, use XPando to seal the threads and never worry about a leak.

Thought I better get myself over to my mate's mums to see if the Z was still in one piece and to have a go at starting it. Armed with a new battery - I had brought the other one back a year ago or so but I fried it somehow. Anyway, that turned up yesterday so off I went. After some new fuel and cranking it over for a while, I took the plugs out - wet, not surprisingly, gave them a clean and lo and behold, the thing spluttered into life soon after on full choke for a bit but soon settled down to tick over at 850 rpm. Top end sounds a bit tappety but at least it runs - and now I can think about getting it home next week ... and took the luggage rack I bought from Healey 12 (David) over just to see what it'll look like when fitted. Superb is the answer.

I did this when I junked the US system a couple of years ago but I can’t remember what I used …
I will save all of the smog stuff in case I ever sell it (likely will be buried in it). I am having a hard time finding the balance tube gaskets for my 71. 72-76 are available but 70-71 are not for some reason. I will just make gaskets.

Agree! It was not a safe lift, just trying it out. I got four rubber blocks with notches in them, similar to the stock scissor lift jack that comes with the car.

It's actually quite a solid body, so lifting here is ok to have more room to work. These rubber blocks spread the load a bit more than what you see. Once lifted it's easy for jack placement. The factory jack has such a small lift point that I would not use it unless on the road with a flat.
