Jtuner Magazine thrash invite

bryn, my car will be trailered there on the back of a motorhome. In an ideal world then yes it would be usefull to have the trailer, motorhome at the holding area and unload there as then I have access to the wet tyres if it rains and also it means that I dont have to carry fuel cans and start battery in the car down to the holding paddock. The motorhome and trailer is about 45 ft long so it could not be mistaken for a car. Cheers looking forward to the day. ben

Ben I'm sure we can take the whole lot down, you'll just have to snick it in somewhere. Here's a pic of the area, it might look quite big, but can get full on a busy day...

Oh yeah and for those that wanted a B&B, Knaptoft Farm is a half mile down the road, £45 a night, clean and comfy.

no problem bryn we can hide in the corner easy enough if we get there early and no one will know we are there. cheers ben

Just to triple confirm - I have now definitely got the day off, just have to see if I can remember how to drive the car now.. oh and the small matter of an MOT to pass...

Have a good time guys, I'll be thinking of you whilst in Sicily trying to retrace the Targa Florio course (hire car not 240!).

Phil if it fails the MoT pm me I'll make you an offer you can't refuse plus track day car in part ex!

I've been admiring your car in Avon Customs, that's a feature car right there! Will be good to see it rolling! :)

Sorry pjinhouse but I think that the 32's were out a few weeks ago, its time for the big boys with quick cars to play now:D

Cheers Bryn, yes, would love a feature, got a few more nice things to get on it before though, then it'll be perfect. (until I get bored with the little twin turbos and go for a big single  )

Can we just confirm the passenger list

Bryn you mentioned we are allowed one per car so around 8 in total

Presumably Ben counts as one (Dee’s the best driver)
I have roped in another 2 (Mike and Matt)
Is anyone else bringing a passenger so we can sort out who is travelling with who

Digressing slightly
Bryn, bit cheeky but as Zclub magazine editor, would it be possible to have access to some of your material gathered on the day (photo’s data etc) as I would like at some point in time to run it as a major feature.

Plus the data will help us to update one of our club records, the “hall of fame” where we record the quickest ever Z cars dating back almost 20 years.
Normally this info is gathered at Santa Pod during the Zclub drag challenge dates but the data from Bruntingthorpe should be comparable in accuracy plus at least 3 committee members will be there so it should be eligible …… if quick enough times are recorded that is (minimum entry level is 14.9 seconds for the ¼ :D)

steve still have all my data from brunters when i had the sam tested

0 - 60
1/4 mile
0 - 100
100 - 0
and top end speed

will go and have a look for it

Will be bringing along my sister as a passenger so no spare seat I'm afraid..

Can anyone predict whether cars will be any quicker/slower at brunters compared to the pod?

Hmmmm very interesting

Can anyone predict whether cars will be any quicker/slower at brunters compared to the pod?

Raises some interesting questions

The surface at Bruntingthorpe (info courtesy of Pmac) is concrete/tarmac with some loose debris so may favour road tyres better.
Where as Santa Pod favours purpose designed track tyres better due to the nature of the surface and the glue that gets put down.

Another issue is the timing gear
Santa pod is point to point beam breaking i.e. the distance from beam to beam (1320ft)
At Bruntingthorpe the car gets fitted with either onboard telemetry or a transponder which is relayed to a laptop for data collection/analysis
This is quiet possibly GPS based which is accurate to a couple of metres so there may be a tenth or so discrepancy over a 1/4 verses POD times

Further more, your 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 miles and top speed are all measured on the same run (you get 4 runs), this gets interesting as to what tyre pressure to run....typically at the pod we would run significantly lower tyre pressures on the rear however at very high speed this is not good as the tyre will overheat, therefore launches will be on fully inflated tyres which inevitably will mean slower 60 ft times.

All times will be scrutinised by both Mike and Rob prior to inclusion into the hall of fame (if quick enough), terms and conditions apply, please read the label before use, warning may contain nuts.

PS quick reply is
I go for 2 tenths slower on the 1/4

warning may contain nuts.

By the sound of things on this thread it will be full of nuts.
Guys/gals, its a photo shoot, you will get yer pic in a great magazine and Bryn and ALL the J Tuner team are really good company.
just go and enjoy it. Its supposed to be a fun day out(and it was for us from 300ZX co uk... read the feature OUT NOW).
And passenger/hangers on???
Whats the point? Only one driver per car and you cant take the pasenger out with you. You will be looking at a 2mile long runway all day and the toilets are at the other end, so is the cafe!!!

Thanks Pete, just cos you have no friends;)
