Froggy Z project - paint competition

Sean When I first saw your Z in that shite yellow colour I thought it looked awful but as time has gone by it grows on you :D not joking I now think your Z is one of the best looking 240's around, so I agree with status why change it ? If you are going ahead with the colour change anyway guess you would not be interested in my & DJ's favourite colour on a Z which is dark met blue ? Saw this early 90's 911 today the shade of met blue was absolutely stunning. So the only other colour choice in my opinion would be the orange as on the Jagermeister race cars .

you can not do this colour as i am doing it on mine but without the wing stripes:D:D
and i have already done some test panels at work with some nice citroen colours :D:D

There is a standard late 260Z colour which should be best descibed as a Metallic Chestnut which looks stunning.

The late great Steve McQueen had a Ferrari California in almost the same colour which was called Pearlescent Marron ( pretty obvious, really ), which is period correct, subtle, yet has a real 'wow' effect.

Nevertheless, you'll do your own thing anyway, so why do we rise to the bait ?

Yes nice colour that one Duncan, would not be period for a 240 though, so guess he'll have to go for 110 red ;).

By the way Sean liking the look of the limo .

No, No, Guys....wait a minute, I've got it now...

There was a British Leyland colour in the 70's which just about every delightful Marina and Allegro came out in, which was called - ready for this ? - 'Harvest Gold' !

Most of the Trade came to know it as 'Baked Dog Shit' - you know, like it's been left out in the Sun for a few days.

There you go, Sean - NOW can I have the prize ?

i think that chestnut is the colour of mine, see my gallery, the new minis do some really nice light blue metalics

.........puts hand sheepishly in the air.........my parents had a BDS Wolsley 6...........and I followed it up with a BDS Austin 1300 MKIII (two door coupé :D) for my first car in 1982. Not again so no prize yet Duncan !

You raise to 'the bait' because I'm offering a nice prize !

Dale, what about that gold over dark silver (gunmetal ?) and lose the stripes down the front wing ? Gunmetal wheels too please.

You bunch of greasy hypocrits - that's four years that I've shouldered the abuse and ripping upon a choice of cats' piss yellow to name one of the less vulgar descriptions......!

I have to have her repainted and she'll be taken to bare metal so choices :

1) try and find a water-based paint that closely resembles the current colour
2) have a change

This was always a compromise at home - I wanted GREEN and was told that it wasn't the same car so not the same colour.....she wanted old English white and I said no so one day at Le Mans we saw a Primrose yellow E-Type and we doctored that to make it lighter and hey presto !

It's currently 'classic' in look - maybe it's me mid-life crisis but maybe I should opt for something different........and that's why I'm looking to you chaps for some inspiration. If you'fe gonna start agreeing with my choice (for once), you're just gonna complicate things !

I did the black and gold one late last night, and I've just remembered where I've seen that style before..............

"Black goooooold"

Can't see the picture you've put up but it already reminded me of the 10th anniversary 280ZX !

Please can you try that which I suggested earlier (gold over dark silver with dark silver wheels) ?

There's always light purple....and something

Well Sean I think you are just looking for trouble and making work for yourself. Use and abuse it.

The paint has to be changed - there are some rust spots on the sills and I've had some whopping stone chips and finally, the person who rushed the paint prep (not Dave or Martin) to have the car ready to be painted in time for LM Classic in 2006 - uckfed up !

The time is booked, the car will be off the road, the money is there - do it and show off next year, besides, there are already two yellow Zs on the circuits over here and I like to think my car and I are different.

Whilst we're on the subject - Martin hasn't heard back from you......

I'm struggling to get a metallic look, but it won't work imo.

For the record, I've always liked your pale yellow paint job - might do my '22 that colour.
