I have some more information from the organisers.

We will be located back on the infield this year, but the exact site is not known just yet. I think this will be popular with most people because the racing (from a distance) can be viewed easily. Also last year we were a bit isolated however it was easy access and handy for the special Samuri Parade Lap.

This year we will not be holding our own (sponsored) parade lap. One of the reasons is that on the Saturday the Mustang club have got that slot, but also these parades can be disappointing due to the time spent waiting around. Racing and the lunchtime demonstrations e.g. F1 car are their priorities, also they are very slow and erratic so frustrating - it's not a chance to experience the circuit at a swift pace.

However for those interested the Friday and Sunday Parades are for mixed clubs. There are 10 spaces available to members on the Sunday and 15-20 on the Friday.

Lets just hope it doesn't get cancelled.

Occurred to me too. In fact, may well apply to all events this year depending on the ongoing developments with coronavirus and official responses to it relative to large scale events.

Its cost the company I work for ££££££££'s. Cancelled f1 races that we cover, 80% of sports in Asia, large gatherings are being banned and very high profile events after the Donnington Historic are in doubt.

I hope it blows over........... we'll know when it has when the number of new cases starts dropping, it hasn't yet.

IMHO it is not the same as an event in an enclosed space such as a football stadium or a concert hall and lets be honest it is not as if you are packed in next to each other

this sums it up for me with a bit of humour on people who are stocking up stuff

True. I guess the potential issue comes if a blanket ban on events with attendance over a certain size comes into force, as has been seen in other countries. It's still relatively early days though; I think we all just have to wait and see what happens and what impact it has. It may come down to events/venues' assessment of liability and all that jazz.

The fact that you can have the virus and be contagious without showing any symptoms means that anyone you come into contact with could infect you or indeed be infected by you. Almost seems pointless to restrict anything! Almost.....

It's undoubtedly going to be extremely difficult to reign it in once it gets momentum in community transmission terms. A similar type of virus has done the rounds already this winter. At my kids' school, some classes were down 50%, including the teachers. We all got it in our house (flu-like but shorter and sharper) and in Kerry's case, as an asthmatic, it hit hard. It developed into pneumonia, pleurisy, a trapped nerve in her back from all the coughing, and finally led to her having to have her left lung drained after it filled with fluid. You can see why we are all slightly paranoid in this house about the concept of an easy-to-catch respiratory disease that leads to serious, possibly life-threatening conditions for those with preexisting issues, even if for most of us it will be no worse than a cold...

Folks, I'm expecting this event to be cancelled. Not only is it a mass gathering but there are also emergency staff at race meetings.

Will update as soon as I know the situation.

Yep, that was my immediate reaction to the withdrawal of emergency service support to mass gatherings - all race meetings cannot continue. I think it’s just a matter of MSV announcing it now relative to all their near-medium term events.

It’s going to be a quiet year.

I've had an email from MSV saying all race meets are now suspended until at least the end of April. Stay safe guys.

So as yet it's still 'on'. It's a May event.

I've been in contact with the 'Clubs' contact and she hasn't heard anything yet.

DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL – UPDATE

In light of recent developments in the COVID-19 crisis, Motorsport UK (the governing body for motorsport in the UK) has today extended its suspension of all motorsport events until at least 30th June.

This means that, sadly, we have to postpone the Donington Historic Festival to an alternative date later in the year.

The Donington Historic Festival website and social media channels will be kept up to date with the latest information and we would ask you to please bear with us as we look into the options.

Existing Ticket Holders
The policy of MSV, who operate Donington Park, is as follows:
'In the event a race meeting is postponed, all tickets will be valid for the rescheduled event. If you let us know that you can't make the rescheduled date once it’s been announced, you will get a refund. If a race meeting is cancelled entirely and not rescheduled, you will automatically get a refund. We hope that this approach will provide total comfort and reassurance to our customers.'

We would like to thank all of our staff, participants and visitors for their understanding and support during this difficult time. Please follow all official guidance to do what you can to keep yourselves and others safe and well.

I wasn't able to attend this year anyway, but even if it does go ahead in a few months time, i don't think i would want to risk it whatever anyone says about it being ok!

Just checked my email and saw the update as per Steve’s post above. Totally unsurprising. I equally expect a lot of the postponed events this year will end up cancelled altogether due to unknown length of the pandemic and difficulties in rescheduling.
