Do we know yet.....how much in auction ?

RHD 260Z is around 20% behind value of same condition 240Z

Rob had an easy hassle free sale without advertising as to be expected on holy grail type car in UK - an original well looked after RHD car. This is what lots of people want and very very few about.

He could have got a few more £k had he waited for Spring as prices and market wake up again but he was happy with his price and fact car going to a keen enthusiast. Buyer also got a very good deal so win/win.

Sorry to widdle on your chips Paul but £ 45k for a 260Z not in the ballpark just yet :D

Most things sell if the price is realistic or the buyer has a lot of disposable income/capital.

There are cars advertised that stay unsold for months and months (years in fact) because they are too expensive for that model or condition. There are houses near me that have been on the market for years. Speculators really. Anything realistically priced sells within weeks.

If someone moans their house has been on the market for months then drop the price, it's too expensive ... it's pretty easy.

Ditto for cars.

No idea what Riddler's car sold for, but he was obviously happy with it and so was the new owner. People have to be realistic.

I ain't gonna say what I paid for it.. lol... maybe in time..or after a few beers..

I enquired about the 240z at CheshireClassics and got all the details. Nice looking car, but for me.. little documentation and non matching numbers was reason I didn't go for it.

Being new to the Z scene I spent nearly a year looking at all the options. I had considered LHD because I spend quite a bit of time in Spain and prices in general seemed lower, but too many hassles in buying overseas and felt the cheaper ones are good for project cars and the pricey ones, well, just doesn't feel the same as a UK car.

Wasn't interested in imported RHD from Aussie etc.I didn't see many anyways and would imagine price not too dissimilar to UK supplied..

UK original supplied car, unmolested, matching numbers, good documentation and a big history file was what I was after. RIDDLER's ticked all the boxes.

In answer to Sean's question, Waiting for someone with high disposable income may be a more tactful description quoting Mr.Gaskin previous post

To be fair though JK's car has the subjective xyz % added value of Samuri brand which has been talked out previously so let's not go there again.....

What did you think to it in the flesh, it's been for sale since God was a lad as well ...

Seemed a lot of money to me.

Riddler's car had the type of spec (you mentioned it) where it's a sound investment - not that you bought it with that in mind but you know what I mean ... it's got everything going for it - whereas so many cars seem to have a hole in their history, or some engine from another car, or something which isn't as sound as others out there.

As you're only in MK, I look forward to seeing it in the flesh maybe come summer ... :D

Well mine is faster than that old sammy 240 and just goes to show the 260z late models are more desirable as stated many times on here and I might drop a couple of grand Chris but thought I would jump on the band wagon later in the year, just waiting to do the head gasket and get a few stone chips sorted then it might be up for sale

Its only been stated by you that they're more desirable :)

I will second Status, having owned 21 Z's the late 260 2 seater was my favourite, the only thing it lacked was the mad free revving of the 240.

Not many 240's run "the free revving L24 due to L28 swaps..?":p:eek:

So RHD late 260 is the smarter buy:D

For those living in the UK who can't afford a 240Z and don't want LHD - yes.

The Sammy in question Status is a 260Z:lol: !

I'd have a 280Z over a 260Z any day.

And what about free-revving strokers - do you think size restricts performance then - I'm confused by your question !

Maybe you all did but the quote began back in 1974 with motoring journalists liking it over the 240Z for better refinement.
No comparison made about the sporting effect of the car compared to its predecessor and the same journalists gave a cruel verdict on the 280ZX when it replaced the 260Z back in 1979.

Nissan got it right though selling as many S130s as 280Zs which itself far outsold the 260Z worldwide.

My 2.8 'overbored and stroked' 2.4 revved higher than I would take it. I used 7k max for 10 years. This idea that bigger engines won't rev is wrong for our rev ranges. I reckon most people who quote that don't even rev the engine they have got.

If the 2.8 engine is modified appropriately it will rev. and give more power than a 2.4.
