Do we know yet.....how much in auction ?

This idea that bigger engines won't rev is wrong for our rev ranges. I reckon most people who quote that don't even rev the engine they have got.

If the 2.8 engine is modified appropriately it will rev. and give more power than a 2.4.

Probably all started again with the road-testing motoring journalists who claimed (rightly) that the L28 in the 280ZX didn't rev as freely as the previous generation...which were smaller and hence the supposition then and later that the bigger L-gatas don't rev - absolute rollocks and can be classed with the '260Z is a better (best) road car'.

All I said was mine was faster,ok it's a Zed with triples, bit of head work, that about sums a sammy up,but that was years ago, engines have moved on since then and yes the 280z is a better everyday car to drive and wot do motoring journalists know,FA.affordability doesn't come into it as I think you will find that most people after a Zed are in their 40 s 50s and can afford a 240 or a 260 most don't do their homework,it's a case if I want a,and it wasn't a question it was a statement backed up by people that have had bit models and it is also a matter of preference and also personal taste to which we know you don't have much of that with a haircut like you have,I have to agree with the free feeling bit,my green 240 I had ,had had a bit of head work and was great to drive, don't know why people put 280 motors in their 240s cos a bit of head work turns it into an even better car to drive

You only need a bit more torque if you are towing a bloody caravan,if you build an engine properly and set it up correctly it is a joy to drive just like the green 240 The power was instant as soon as you put yer foot down, great dear to drive, anyway wots happening to your pee coloured 240 ,we don't seem to hear much about it after you were geeing everything and one involved In the build, has it rotted out already, has the engine exploded ,wots happening to it

Come on people, we all know there is no right or wrong here. We all want different things from our cars so the ones we pick are right for us. The collection I currently have will fit all my current needs. I may regret selling the early 260 recently as it was a great all rounder having a nice mildly tuned engine and good fourway suspension. I loved the look and colour of the car and would of kept it if I didn't need the money.

The rat look 240 was a cheap buy that has turned out to be the most solid original car so far. I't will be hard to find another like this so I'm spending a fare lump of money on it, with the fuel injection, to make it a pleasure to dive around on a daily basis. I'll leave the matching numbers engine and paint just the way it is and get a lot of enjoyment from it.

The 280 was never going to impress me in standard form and the car will never be worth much money so it seamed a prime candidate for a restomod. The V8 will give it a nice twist and probably wont devalue it too much. This is just toy that I would sooner mod than a 240. I may end up using this as a run around instead of the rat look 240. Once both are finished I'll make that decision.

The orange 4BOA will be a full resto but in the theme the car was originally modded to by Steve and similar to the DZR orange 240. I may keep this for a while but I can see me being afraid to use it.

Anyway, the point I am making is we all buy or want zeds for different purposes and to fulfil different needs so no model is better than the other to different people.

Power isn't instant you wally - torque is - THAT's what you use every time you accelerate, change gear etc !

Johnny - MZR you mean.;) And sorry, I don't agree, stuffing a swap in a Z does reduce it's value - the attraction is that there is no value 'lost' by doing it on anything other than a 240Z !

The market wants 240Zs - fact !

Sean - I said "probably wont devalue it too much". So I am in full agreement that it will devalue the car.

Glad we have cleared that up Sean. So you think it will increase its value and I think it will decrease it.

Yeah wot's happening with it Sean ? it has been a very long time in the making ! is it going to be something really really special or did you flog it to a Stevie Wonder kind of person  Don't take that the wrong way as I saw your car when it was finished & it was fabulous apart from the colour choice.

it was fabulous apart from the colour choice.

Better than boring red and brown.:p

It's happening, discreetly and as time, money and the bloody weather allows.

I stopped sharing it because of some kn*b called Ian Patmore trying to score points all the time, rehasing old fights ; it became boring - why dish out the ammo to be shot down ?

Colour change programmed but will never please everyone.:smash:
