Datsun 280Z -77 - Build thread

The engine was from an EK9, but tuned and in an EF9, which is advantageous as its about 150kg less than an EK9.

4 cylinder DOHC but it does have rockers.

My RB26 Revs to 8200 so I can still get my high RPM fun, its actually got a built head so if I had a turbo capable of supplying boost at higher RPM I could rev to 9K.

I bet that was good fun, the VT used to be a fun car in standard trim.

So much fun that I still have it, owned it for 13 years now. It has a B20 engine now though, doesn't rev as high (8200rpm) but it load of fun and massively more torquey.

Will be good to see this high revving L series come together, should be great fun and sound great.

Very nice - you do things well. Fantastic car.

What did you get it up to in the vid 1,750 rpm? sweet

Thank you Rob.

Yeah, somewhere around there :D

The tuner said it swallowed everything he gave it yesterday. He really opened up the fuel, and even at low revs it just flowed through. It's got great potential. They think the numbers are possible that DSI advertises.

We'll see next week!

You are going to enjoy that Peter!
I guess the videos work for you?

Thanks Rob! There is only a base map in the ECU right now. It's going on the rollers next week. Man, the engine sounds so responsive, can't wait to drive it!

It's almost agony getting sent videos like this :D

Yes, I love the sound of the car coming towards the camera but if you fit an airbox that will reduce.

O man that just sounds like all kinds of fun.....can't wait to see a video on some twisty road in the UK......:D

Shit about to go down!
