anyone own a 250 gto replica

had the report done today, very through! 2.5 hours
the reserve is set at £15,000
heres whats wrong
1.valve ring problem or worse
its letting oil in the valves and is really smokey when you accellerate
2.passenger indicators not working estimate price to fix £ 4-800 or £1,500-2,000 for bottom end
3.battery is not fastened down and moves about, has white powder deposits at the base of battery
4.chassis has been jacked up in the wrong place and has left 2 crumpled areas, side of the area is in tact just a small dip in the middle of chassis rails with no paint on them both in them areas
now , can someone give me a rough estimate or there own oponion on the valve problem? who 's the best to get this done with and where to get the parts etc, i need advice boys and girls!!

the cheapest way is a motor swap...standard 2.6 £150-£300 depending on condition and availability. chassis rails.....mmmm add £3-400 if cit out and repaired. The better the engine and chassis repairs the more you will pay....oops missed the battery....its leaking, bin it before the acid eats the tray alive. as for the repairs, there are loads in the links section, all know what they are doing from what i hear, the price may vary so if you buy the car you would have to take it to each shop and get an exact price, remember to add % in your mind for finding other things when there because its an old car.

i might be leaning towards buying a good 240 /260 z which has been restored and then put a kit on it, i would like to have a usable z that i know has been looked after and had some new parts ,rust done etc rather than buy the ebay car and then have to strip it to get things done. has anyone got one??? around the 4-5 k mark
also the ebay car has only one key for the ignition, the door lock doesn't work with this key,how much is it to get a new lock ?

got the full report today, and after ringing up a fourways and autoactive it needs about £ 800 spent on the engine alone
it has 16 points that need fixing , 3 are mot failures and 5 are quite urgent
i would only be prepared to offer £ 5-6 k for it now.
1.cooling fan not spooling up but thermostat working
2.paint work needs respraying
3.seats re-upholstered
4.window driver side faulty
5.front suspension stabiliser rubber bushes worn
6.chassis has jacking-squeezing in 2 areas
7.transmission oil leaks-differential rear axle unit(pinion oil seal)
8.indicater lights nearside not working
9.rear number plate lights
10.gas emissions high
11.instuments-green light warning flag
12.play in rear splines to rear axle
13.headliner saging
14.only one key no locking for door
15.battery not fixed
16.various plastic/chrome trim missing

I assume if you buy a good Z to put a kit on you'll want it LHD, as per the original cars

hes definatley holding out for £10,000 he was offered £9,500 and wouldn't take it even with the knowledge of all whats wrong with it!! i offered £7,000 and he said he would extend his morgage and keep the car if he doe'snt get 10k for it
so it looks like plan b!!

Tricky, gonna put mine on eaby if it doesnt go within 2 or so weeks with a much lower reserve than the £5,250 I had on it B4. As i said in a previous post, I had over 70 'watchers' and quite a few bids but I suppose I didn't really want to sell it.
Datsunmad from the forum is coming down to see it this weekend, he seems really keen, I've had loads of e mails (mainly those f*cking sammers!) and 3 calls from my classic car ad,all in bloody Ireland though!
I'm off to see a 2+2 on thurs, which is a cheaper option for me right now, but it means I'll have to sell the car ASAP IF i buy.

Tricky, Its in these classifieds for 5K but elsewhere for £5,350 - £5,950 , to be honest my bottom line has been 5K but if I buy this 2+2 on Thursday I'll need to sell it on a bit quicker..not sure how much less than 5K though, the car owes me around £5,750 (not been counting, it could be bl**dy well more!)Theres some spares inc. a cover and the gear box it came with which crunched on 2nd but that is quite normal for these boxes it seems. The current one is very useable but has no 5th. It just did lots of Northern France and it ran really well. (..it should do after a £400 rolling road set up I hear you say!)
I've had loads of interest but it seems Wales ('Car'diff) is too far for some people!..(apart from Datsunmad who's coming over the bridge on Saturday, all the way from sunny Norfolk.)
