i 'am a total ferrari nut and have had a couple of ferrari replicas, the only replica i would really want is a 250 gto thats why iam on here but if a 360 was within my reach then i will not say no, i just like the marque.
one of the main reasons for the 360 was the ease of build and quality and it's 99% correct to a real one, the guy only does turn-key but he will sell me a kit before anyone else will get it in a years time.also the 406 is everywherer and parts etc is easy.
i have had a qoute to fit and paint a gto kit to a z and it will be £3000
there is a kit avalible at the moment as well that i have found! but it is body panels only, no wheels, brightwork ,lights etc

Yes but it will always be a peugeot 406 and no matter how much you tart it up, it will still suck!!!!

A GTO kit is based on an already great sports car... the datsun... yes, it has problems but its a great base for a sports car and for the new conversion... :)

At the end of the day, its your car... its your dream... do with it what you like :)

Moggy, check your PMs! :)

i had a qoute from a company called option1 in birmingham which specialize in glassfibre spraying and repair , they do tvr and kit cars, they said to just spray my car like the one in my id picture would be £2-3000. www.option1sportscars.co.uk
i contacted another kit builder company in staff www.smartfxmidlands.com and i sent then a link page to show whats involved in building a z-gto www.zcarkits.com so they would know what i'am talking about and they said £3,000 for a fit and finish.
most kit company's charge £1000-1500 to fit a kit

Which Gto Kit Do You Have In Mind ?

The Kit I Have Is Quite Rough And I Spent Half A Day Cutting Out All The Holes Just On The Front Section For The Lights Etc.
But It Only Cost Me £1200 So I Can Not Grumble.

i have had a look on the zcar.kits link and they say allow 50 to 60 hours to fit the kit which does not include paint prep or painting.so 60 hours X £30 hour for labour which is guide =£1500 -£1800.
but this does not say if the car has been made ready to fit the kit as you would have to remove the front end panels ,side glass, taillights, rear bumper and chop and weld rear arches etc before you can fit the kit.

the kit i have seen doesn't come wih any door skins, it looks like it needs some work on it too!
i had a qoute on some wire wheels 8x15 72 spoke chrome, they were £545 each!! to fit the 260z

unless you have alot of money to throw about i wouldn't do it! I would expect a non rottern car ( if you can find one)to be converted to a show standard ferrari look a like some where in the region of 15-20k. any less than that and you will never be able to sell it if you had to.( i bet PW spent 25-30)

just a rough guide on pricing of bits below to give you an idea.

re- trimmed leather interior......£1200....
Ferrari interior wheel and badges .....£300
engine performace bits....carbs,exaust,cam, head job......2 1/2 k +
worn out steering /suspension/ prop/drive shaft u/j etc £1500
brakes.....£1000 easy.

all for new stuff and fitted buy a garage and plus body kit plus paint plus extras and there will be alot as things do tend to break on a 30 year old car when you try and remove them... ask rob, pmac,Mr F the list could go on

and you can keep going and going!!!!!!

my advice is if you like the z look and feel, spend your money once and buy a nice clean example and enjoy it for what it is!

i dont want to put a downer on your dreams but i feel you should go into this with your eyes wide open.

all the best with it ......paul.

I've seen a set of three ferrari badges on ebay for less than £50... You've just got to keep an eye out for them... watch out for the fakes too...

if your going to do some of it yourself and cut corners, yea 6k, but i did say a show car and i assume tricky cant do this stuff himself judging by his previous posts so he would be paying labour! also there aint alot of point going to all that effort to turn a car into a lookalike and leaving a worn out/ corroded car underneath. of course if someone can build me a show car for 6K i'll have 2 please.:D
