£70k gto replica wheelbarrow on ebay

Having built one and then selling it. At the time had it up for sale for about 15k but you could get a Ferrari 308 for about 16k which was about the cheapest one you could get at time.
For 69k you could get a real Ferrari had have plenty of choice.
My buddy bought his F355 for £37k and it wasn’t that long ago!!!! They’re worth a fair chunk of cheese more now.

Oh and what a glorious sound that car makes just cruising, let alone howling at 8k!!

I’m with @Robotsan - that one did make me think ahh bless, so cute!

We were discussing this at Goodwood - why is it OK to have replicas of many other cars such as Cobras or say a D-type Jag, but you aren’t allowed to do a replica Ferrari? N fact any acceptable replicas that anyone else would care to mention?

I always find that strange. Having said that I’m in that camp that thinks a replica Ferrari is just wrong, especially a GTO replica without a V12! :D

Having had a day yesterday , doing anything but the painting that Mrs AD240z had asigned - i see there may be reason for this, in that Ferrari perhaps dont like people recreating their vehicles and using their prancing horse. McBurnie created the Daytona replicas used in Miami Vice.

"Two automobiles drew a lot of attention in Miami Vice; the Ferrari Daytona and Testarossa. During the first two seasons and two episodes of the third season, Detective Sonny Crockett drove a black 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4.[36] Actually, the car was not a Ferrari, but a kit replica based on a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette C3 chassis.[37] The car was fitted with Ferrari-shaped body panels by specialty car manufacturer McBurnie.[38] Once the car gained notoriety[37], Enzo Ferrari filed a lawsuit demanding that McBurnie and others cease producing and selling Ferrari replicas, because they were taking his name and styling"

Details of the case are tediously ( but not as tedious as painting ) listed here - https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20120111-1-082341.html

I do wonder, when people do these replicas, if it ever crosses their mind, say half way through that they've made a terrible mistake and it will always look bad? Then they have sleepless nights tossing and turning in bed wondering about the weeks, months and years they have wasted building something that will always look a bit special yet they crack on anyway.

The Datsun/GTO can be a good car if the attention to detail is high. It will drive well and look good but it's not a Ferrari.

That Corvette has taken so much work but is awful. Why ever would you base a front engined V8 muscle car on a rear engined, air cooled VW?

Probably so they can get that low, sleek bonnet!

Now this isn’t stated as a replica - but the rear and parts of the front end styling seem to have GTO influences.

You’d have to collect all the branches of the ugly tree to make it a garage .

I think mental illness must play a big part in these replica projects.

I wonder what other gems are in his private collection.

It's a bit like when you see someone famous's less attractive sibling, and while they look like the person you know so well, unfortunately for them they just look like a sort of wrong version.

I want to cry - all that effort to make it look like a fat car but still only has a 1.6 in the middle.
