The rear quarter emblems? I think it is just a matter of the original (vented) quarter emblems being switched to the earlier Export type '240Z' emblems after the original holes were filled in. Builder decision, I think. I don't think it's a symptom of shell-swapping (with the caveat that I haven't seen it in person, so I'm only guessing...).
I sold the (Japanese aftermarket replica) 5-piece Grande nose kit and (original Nissan) headlamp covers to the builder/owner Alan Edney back in the late 1990s. Pretty sure I sold him the MK63 four-pot front calipers too. He found the basket wire wheels at one of the Billing Aquadrome meets I seem to remember...
Not everyone's cup of tea (and certainly not mine) but I believe there's a good, straight and solid car underneath all the add-ons. Could easily be made into something a lot more appealing.
Any idea how I would contact Alan Edney now ?
Thank you !Sorry, I've not got any contact details. It was a long long time ago.
However, he was a member of The Classic Z Register and you may be able to find out more from Jon Newlyn of the Register. Maybe through their Facebook group? https://www.facebook.com/classiczregister
Ha, I just came here to post this. I actually do like the Ferrari style lights as well, and I imagine it'd be tricky to return to stock now? Are you going to keep them @Gnose ?
Thank you both !On other cars I've seen pics of they never looked legit, rather more of an after thought design wise. But i must admit the colour of the car, the black bumper and the hatch louvres makes all the difference in this particular case... i likey
Thank you, I’m ecstaticI would wager that's an S13/14 gearbox in there, so you will likely not be able to fit an original gear knob without some gear lever or knob mods.
IIRC I think the S13/14 gear knob is M10 x1.25, the S30 series is M8 x1.25.
Ps. Lovely purchase! You must be VERY happy!
Thank you, I’m ecstatic
I don’t know enough to know which gearbox it has, I’ll ask Fourways, however, I know they replaced the lever as a P.O. had cut the thread off to fit the aftermarket knob and also the bushes were missing
Mine too. I replaced mine with the original nylon type. I'm not sure if the brass ones are better to use, but I thought with the limited mileage the car does longevity isn't really an issue.Ah, yes, the bushes were missing in mine too and the gear change was transformed when I put them in!!
So you may have the original ‘box then!
