Not a ZG frt end fan look sorry, looks like something a 3 yr old would stick together.
Duck billed platypus springs to mind but not as cute ... imo
Ori uk car looks miles better. But then each to their own

Ha ha, it’s really funny, if you read this thread from the beginning every one says how wrong it looks without the arches

I still think so.

I wouldn't worry about a couple of throwaway comments from the peanut gallery.

It's a lovely car, but i have to admit i prefer without the arches, i think it's the black against the yellow stands out too much for my liking, on dark paint with the proper arches i can appreciate the look more.

But.... of course personal choice as always, enjoy as you see fit ;)

I think ZGs look better with arches otherwise they look too long and narrow. Loved that pic of a red car.

Thanks for all the comments.
The arches we’ve used to mock up were lying around at Fourways, I have a set of MarugenShōkai SP arches on their way as suggested by Albrecht (thank you) and current thinking is we will paint factory grey.
The alloys we’ve used are genuine Watanabes all in 8.5 x 15 gunmetal grey which I found on eBay. The plan is to put 25mm spacers on the rear and order a set of 4 off 9.5 for the rear from Japan (approx 5 month wait) and then have a spare set to sell.

Undecided at present if I’m going to paint the underside below the front bumper in factory colour to match the arches or keep yellow.

Current suspension is adjustable so we can sort the ride height out once the arches are fitted.

Haven't been on the forum for a while so haven't seen this thread, just catching up. Firstly congrats on the car, it looks great. A couple of comments, have you considered upgrading the radiator to a 3 core instead of fitting a fan? its a great improvement of the stock radiator and allows you to keep the original look. You asked for opinions on fitting arches, personally I always think its a backward step to carve up good arches on an original S30 UK car, once done there's no going back... But as others have commented its your car for you to enjoy :driving: Please keep posting updates on your new purchase, great car.

"once done there's no going back... "

What I would say about that is its not strictly true. Yes, original sheet metal is gone - but how many restored UK cars still have their original rear arches? Not many I'd wager! Also, if really motivated further down the line to change a car back to standard arches - well, its fiddly and expensive, but the options available now have moved beyond the bog standard rear arch repair pieces - see the rear quarter sections now available from KFVintageJDM for example.

I'm fairly zen these days about what can be done metalwork-wise on these cars. Nothing needs be forever with steel as long as you have a good welder, grinder, hammers and dollies, and the obsessive attentiveness to detail and skill to use them!

I prefer the look with arches, but quite like the pics of yours as it is now.

Homebuilt by Jeff fitted arches and cut the body in such a way that the metal he removed could be refitted with a bit of welding and skill if wanting to return to stock. Maybe worth exploring?
