Sorry Chris, maybe came off too hard on the car after viewing the pics.

My eyes were drawn to the slam panel which I know is not correct and I went straight to the assumption mode. I have not looked at the car in person which may otherwise be spectacular. Previous posted edited to better reflect my view.

My apologies...

That slam-panel design has caused a lot of cars to corrode there. If only Datsun had put a slope on it and altered the panel join/overlap. I just liberally spray WD40 on mine and let it 'pool'.

Always filled in my to let the water run off and out......if that classes as 'full of bondo' then so be it but it'll last longer than OEM and winning no prizes in a concours !

Apologies accepted and likewise sentiment returned from me.

Probably just as well being 8 hours behind you hadn't woken up in time to see my original reply  which I edited on realising it was a bit harsh.

Fired off in the heat of the moment and feeling negative about all things American after a late night watching the Ryder Cup. Your boys hollering and whooping as they thrashed us....... I have to watch it with the sound down now as the chants of USA and in the hole drive me mad......You probably don't even like golf but you were the first American on the radar today lol.

The car was not without fault but rest of car was very original and well worth the money paid - even Rob Gaskin nearly put his hand in his pocket for it so you know it must have been OK :D

These value threads always have the potential to go pear shaped when they are discussing cars that have any relevance to forum members so maybe best we just keep to commenting on those East European adverts ;)

As Chief thread starter on values ( and ignoring the superb green 260 resto project ;) ) there is a red car fresh in from LA on your favourite classic car site just short of £ 30k you may want to start a new thread with :D

This thread run it's course now

As an old boss used to say in a Basil Faulty kind of way ' hoooooow muuuuchhhhh '

I saw this car last week at an Auction and it was bought for less that £15!

I told them it was a 4 speed because the listing was misleading. It also had NO OIL IN IT!

Only 2 bidders and one was Rob. Did it actually sell to someone?

There is certainly still a lot of interest in zeds (despite what people on here have been saying) and the 5 at santa pod today got lots of attention. I briefly left my red 260 in the cars for sale car park while I went for a stand pass. When I returned I found a few people looking at the car and one offered the value I had in my head for the car. Another guy turned up and said he would match it. I told them both that I wasn't ready to sell it yet and moved the car before I changed my mind.

Mike - with regard to $ - £ conversions. The car mentioned sold for just over £13k. If we bought a $13k car from the US it would actually cost us just over £13k by the time we shipped it and paid the duty/fees. So this is an equivalent of a $13k car over there. I think we may struggle to find a series 1 car for much less than that price over there.

I don't think anyone is saying there isn't any interest in Zs. Far from it. But the market is all over the place with overvaluing and chancery starting to take a hold as more people hop on the import bandwagon. One hopes that such stupidity will work itself out of the system through natural selection, if you will. I.e. Overpriced cars don't sell, good ones are recognised for what they are.

But people HAVA staed that the market is flooded with LHD cars and THIER values will stabilise (read fall).

The orange one from Neil (on ebay) sold for the asking price I think.

I wouldn't want a "series 1" car....rain pouring in through the hatch....
