What did you do to your Z this week?

I bought a custom steering wheel from Zen carbonfibre in Texas. It arrived this morning so I fitted it. I struggled with the two torx bolts either side of the wheel that hold the airbag cowl on. After a bit of an internet search I found out they are security torx bolts that require a different torx ( it has a hole in the middle ). Anyway all done. I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste but I like it. IMG_8134.pngIMG_8133.jpeg

This week I removed my K&N Typhoon short pipe intake system and fitted one from Z1 motorsports in the US. The very same are advertised on the Torqen website for £688 plus delivery so ordering straight from Z1 made sense as it was £446 when converted including postage. The only thing I wasn’t expecting was the cost of the import duty as I had an extra £108 to pay bringing the total to £554 plus a £12 charge from my credit card for payment in dollars. So the grand total is £566 which is still some £134 cheaper !IMG_8151.jpeg

Today I took the battery cover and surround casing off to get to the fuse box down the side of the battery to remove the steering lock fuse. This was recommended as sometimes on the early 370,s the steering lock can fail leaving you stranded. When I finally got to it I found the previous owner had beat me to it !

Strictly speaking, it wasn't a recall. It was a Voluntary Service Campaign where you could take your car to the dealer to get the steering lock replaced FOC. It would have been replaced at the next dealer service as a matter of course. So your car should have had it replaced already.

I have the part numbers if you want to check the device fitted to your car. A lot of people still pull the fuse as a precaution, but I'm not sure where that leaves you if your car is stolen and the insurance company finds out a security device has been willingly disabled.
