Still want a GTR ?

No, Z32s are nice to look at but that's it (imho) - they fall into the GT-R category - too big for euro roads, they're a track beasts (except I've never met a fast one) so give me a Cunningham Daytona version......which really isn't a Z32 at all so I'll just shut up !

They drink too much anyway - light is right !

I have to disagree with you quite a bit on a couple of those things. They're not too big for Euro roads, although potentially too wide for some of the narrower ones, but then so are most cars, including anything even remotely nice with 4 wheels in fact.

They're far from track beasts, if you're not careful, you'll kill your engine on a track because of the oil pickup design, all aside from that you've got the lack of available traction in the TT model at full throttle, etc. etc. really. I simply can't agree that a Z32 is a track beast, it's a GT, a cruiser that has decent power and can hug down into the twisies if you set it up right. It could be turned into an awesome track beast I imagine, but why bother? I'd just buy a Caterham :D

My Z32 TT is nearly as fast and as thrilling as my R32 was. Granted my R32 was only 450bhp, but in my opinion was fast enough for UK roads and some seriously fun track usage. The Z weighs less and is probably closing in on, but not quite at, 400ish bhp (It hasn't been dyno'd yet and is getting a forged engine this year), so it goes pretty quick and the handling is getting better with every suspension modification I add :D.

It's also not that thirsty, compared to some cars I've had at least. The GTR was a very thirsty beast, as was my V12 Jag, my Supra Turbo and the Subaru WRX we had for a while in NZ to name just a few, that were as thirsty or thirstier, than my Z32 is, for less performance in most cases (Apart from the GTR that is).

I wouldn't judge a car by it's acceleration alone, if you did that you would have one of those super fast Nova's from Santa Pod.

GTR - they are fantastic cars but massive! Porsche for me.

I'd say the GT-R is ugly, yes, massive and the interior cheap looking.

But for the same price +/- .....what's the choice ?

It's interesting that the GTR has overtaken the Porche as "The car to beat" As such it's now become the car that people love to hate. That's seems to be the English way.
This must mean that Nissan is cool again?

I see handbag sales have increased then!!

Generally speaking, you can expect higher than average handbag ownership in a thread with more than two Z32 cabrio owners participating.

Don't ask me for any details though, as it's just something my boss's friend's mechanic's cousin told me when we were at the water cooler outside the MD's office.

Cant resist posting up this old quote from Classic Zcar.club forum in 2006
That person told me that the truth would come out when Mr. Goertz was no longer with us.

Well this is a fun place to be.

All I did was post up my experience with owning a GT-R and made a little typo with an extra "0" on the miles and the big brave Albrecht launches into one.......He must lead a very sad existence to get so excited over nothing.

For what its worth I loved my GT-R and will get another one day. My only comparison with the Porsche was for demonstrating the cost of ownership, not to raise an argument as to which is best.

Oh but this IS fun.

So why don't you go back and edit your typo ?

I think its been said that it is obviously a typo and besides for anyone reading this whole thread it'll make more sense as is.

And then all can see how sad Arbrecht is

Who's this "Arbrecht" character then?

Would still like to know exactly what series GT-R you were talking about. But please hit the 'Preview Post' button and double check for typos before hitting the 'Submit Reply' button. Don't want to think you're talking about the R35 when you're talking about something else.....

Hehe. It's all good fun on here still I see. One of our clients (that I do design for) bought a new GT-R last year as he fancied an upgrade from his Evo VIII. He used to have a 240z many moons ago (but that's another story). Anyway, he took me for a spin down the quayside here in Yarmouth to show off a bit I guess but I thought it was incredible. You feel so stable at speed. It is a big b*gger of a car though (that doesn't bother me at all though). If you have to throw your lot in with an 'axis of evil' car manufacturer, I'd take Japan then Italy. I'd lose an arm before feeling the need to own a German car.

Can't beat German engineering to my mind.

I've owned quite a few of most and they generally stand the test of time.

Its funny how some of us just hate different car manufacturers, often with no valid reason, we just hate them. I hate Ford's. Always have done and could never bring myself to buy one. But, when you step back and try to be impartial you find they make some pretty good cars(still not sure I'd have one though). I think in general though the only reason I go off a certain car is when there are too many of them around. I like something a bit different.

I like the GTR because it's just so good for a non-supercar manufacturer and is the underdog.
BMW's are great cars but too many around for my liking.
Porche - supurb practical supercar but also becoming too common.
240Z - has it all(in hybrid form that is)
