ALL.....those LHD cars are for sale because there are more of them compared to the last survivor RHD versions of which there are still cars unsold on the market.

Your argument needs a little support - go back and try again.

Supply and demand, simple economics,no demand for LHD,hence many still for sale over here, hope that explains, you could buy them all up and sell them over there as you think there is a demand for em,nice little earner there for yer,put your money where your mouth is,not to far to go to collect, steering wheel on left,no brainier really ain't it as there isn't a market over here for em,

I have put my money where my mouth is - been importing 'em for 11 years and there are plenty others that do it now over here and in your backyard.

When your's rusts and you're looking to restore it - you'll :

a) sell it on and forget Zs
b) pay a fortune to weld up old, tired metal only to have it rust again
c) convert an import

Won't import without seeing in flesh, and mine won't rust it's in a dry well ventilated place, might sell it on one day as Zeds are not the end all ,some of us have a life, hence mine didn't get out much this year but have a few changes lined up over next few months for my Zed,why don't you put an offer for all those lhd Zeds for sale over here Ian's they we are led to believe they are rust free, think not,or are they too expensive compared to wot you pay,at least it ain't too far for you to travel, you might be able to knock out a few key rings

I'll repeat the statement that has been said many many times to prospective Z owners. "always buy the best shell you can to stat your new project". Ones that have not had rust repairs in the past will generally be better as they often rust again. We all know how costly it is to re-fabricate section that have suffered rust and you never seam to get all of it. Now, most of us would much sooner have a RHD car but you try finding an original, unrepaired UK car with no rust. If you do then it will probably be outside most of our budgets. So you start looking at UK cars that you can afford and the extent of rust or bad repairs increases dramatically. You tell yourself that you can fix it up yourself or you have a mate that knows how to weld and its not going to cost much to get it back on the road but the reality is usually different. If you do get it through an MOT and back on the road at a reasonable cost then the chances are you will continue to chase rust around at every MOT time. You could not use it and keep it in a good environment so it doesn't keep deteriorating but whats the point of having a zed you cant use?

This leads me onto the alternative and the cars you all hate sooooo much (and I'm still not sure why). The "work of the devil" left hooker. It is still a zed you know!. Although I'm sure a few of you don't think so. A couple of years ago I was of the same opinion as most of you but then I started looking with open eyes at just what you could get for your money. Rust free RHD cars are out of my budget but not so with LHD cars. When I say rust free I mean no extensive rust but may have minor surface corrosion in places. I see very little point in buying a rotten LHD car. So you now have a solid base for your project for way less than the equivalent (if you could find one) RHD car. Now you need to decide whether to leave it LHD or for under a couple of K, convert to RHD. The other thing to consider is the rust free condition of everything else, not just the shell.

Anyway, this is just my opinion and I'm not trying to convert people, just saying open your eyes a little.

You're right - none of our cars 'are worth it' !

Nothing personal because your opinion is just one of many other similar ones here including those who run the club....

I despair for the cars....and the club 'that cares for them' !

It's a worrying trend that seems to be getting worse recently (witness the "no Z is worth that" and the "my 260Z is pretty much the same as that 432" type comments) and it's out of touch with what was going on 5 years ago let alone what's going on now.

Some of the stuff I read on here is just plain bizarre in the context of a marque specialist club. Reminds me of the Monty Python 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch sometimes.

Shocks me and kinda 'racist' :

Top of the ladder and first to be saved from a snking ship :

RHD 240Zs (whether original or converted but keep that bit quiet)

all the rest of the rubbish S30s including 260Zs and 280Zs and way down the eDarwinian tree the 2+2s !

280ZXs.....and then the same but autos

Z31 turbos.....and then the atmo autos

Well done chaps....you're all becomming Classic Z Register......whu had 3x originally LHD cars on their NEC stand that you've admired so much....so important the cover is to look at....pretty pictures !

Oh dear seems like Lady C has got tired of the jungle and is on here now
Bloody hell if you do not like the place do not come here

Stop being such a bloody diva do you think everything is directed towards you

Pretty simple supposition when you reply directly after me and say :

Bloody hell if you do not like the place do not come here
and especially after my personal MP just moments ago.

Quote a name if you don't want people to misunderstand....no ?

And yes, I dod feel like everything is being directed at me despite some moral support from Alan and John with their shared experiences....and opinions.

Why not? Please explain.
I'm coming from a couple of different angles, both at the same time!

1) I'm not an ardent follower of sales & prices, but from my casual & occasional observations, LHD cars aren't selling in the UK for that kind of money. If you're in the uk market for a fully restored investment, I think you're going to want to pay a couple of k more for a RHD car. Happy to be proved wrong.
2) if you're in the uk market for a car to keep and use and get your hands dirty on, a 10k fresh of the boat left hooker seems more attractive to me.

I'm not anti LHD cars, I'd love to have one of your collection as a project, at the sort of prices you paid for 'em. But If I'm paying £23k, I'd be hoping to get a good RHD non project. (it's all hypothetical, I haven't got the money for either!)

I've had my quilt-work RHD260z for > 10 years and I do do little jobs every year to improve the body condition but It spends each winter warm in my garage and I've seen no evidence that it's deteriorating rust wise year on year.

Presumably you give the same advice to club members who are telling you they want to quit because of what I (a mere forum member) write here?

You're still way out in front of the running for Z Club Forum Quote Of The Year 2015 with your "no Z is worth that" classic. Hard to beat, despite some pretty good attempts.
