Moving from US to UK with my 240Z

Little update--the Z gets picked up today from my parents' in the US. Shipping company estimates arrival into the UK end of February-ish. Then I've got a couple weeks to fix the last little issues and get it registered. Hoping by spring it'll be ready to go!
Hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you Rob, I really hope so too. I'm definitely a bit nervous about the whole process since the car is irreplaceable (To me), but I'm sure it will go alright.

Very much looking forward to spring and summer though, I'm only about 30 min from C&M The Hill so I'll definitely be bringing the Z out there!

Sounds good I will let you know! I just need to adjust the parking brake (I just barely got everything re-assembled with the Wilwood MC4 calipers before we left, but I realized I don't have nearly enough tension on the cable) and swap in the restored headlight switch. I'll do the relay mod too so I don't burn another headlight switch, so I don't know if there are any wiring wizards on here 😂

Hope the shipping company realise the handbrake doesn't work! 😯 I know the car will be tied down when in the container, but it'd be awful if something happened elsewhere.

Good luck with the whole process. Lots of people on here who can advise you when it comes to registering it.

Re parking brake. Often with disc conversions on these cars they require more cable movement than the drums. I had to extend the handbrake lever where the cable connects i.e. in the transmission tunnel.

Is that why we see cars with the handbrake lever nigh on vertical?

I hope so too, I've informed them via email and left a note inside the car but we'll see 😅

Thank you! I think I have a good understanding of the registration process thanks to everyone's advice and the V55/5 guide in General Discussion.

That's interesting, do you have any images of how you did that? Right now with the lever all the way up it's just barely touching down on the rotors. Enough to still turn a rear wheel by hand with a bit of resistance.

When I shipped my car over from Cal, when it was on the boat, they pulled out the tyre valves to make the car lower so they had more space to stack the next car above mine. Apparently it is normal for them to do this as they can be bothered to deflate the tyres by pressing the valves, so the use a tool to just quickly remove the valve. So, I would suggest you take a spare set of valves and air pump when you go to collect the car.
Good luck.

Wish I had seen this earlier! That's a great idea, did you have that piece laser-cut? That area is so tough to get to with the driveshaft in place though...

Huh that seems really odd, I hadn't heard of that before. I'm having it delivered to my home so I should be able to sort it out here if they've messed with anything!

Tire valves are not universal when it comes to classics as I found out the hard way. Unless of course the wheels are modern items 👍
