GTO kit

The shut lines look like they are a tad out of tolerance !! The bonnet looks particularly snug :)

I sold a complete kit plus wire wheels to a pair of competiton guys in Hungary a couple of years back but it wasn't that price !:D

.....needs bigger wheels but......I like that - looks (to me) more 'refined', more 'fragile' as the real version appears and not the chunky Tonka style of the Z GTO !

Looks a better quality kit AND cheaper !

Yep, gets my vote AND one doesn't cut up a Z either !

The MX5 kit looks reasonable if you've never seen a Ferrari, so you just evaluate it as a kit car not a replica. For example the low profile tyres would never be on a 250 GTO.

That Datsun kit is very highly priced compared to his other stuff for sale, I wonder why? He has an inflated view of it's value, probably because of the high asking price of some finished cars.

A Mazda would make a good base for a Ginetta replica:

A stunning pic of a beautiful Car there, Rob, but I think that is the G12 - the rear engined Racer with the Lotus Twincam usually fitted.
You don't meant the G4, do you - the front engined one ? Would be about the same size as an MX5, so physically it would work, but the Ginettta Factory are still making a modern-engined version of the G4, so I guess there would be copyright problems. Still a beautiful Classic which has aged well.

Anyway, we digress from the topic, and indeed from 'Z's as a whole, so I'll shut up for a change....

Duncan, a company called 'Dare' now own the rights to the G4, beautiful cars in every way, they feel smaller than a mx5 too(this may just be me carrying less fat at the time!). They command very strong money now. I was looking to buy one for 2 years and only one came up in that time, it sold the same day over the phone!

A new one runs to about 35k for a base spec one running a zetec/duratec.

They always seem out of proportion.
The rear quarters always looks awkward and the wheels and stance never quite mate up.
I was watching a programme this morning about the real 250 gto and early ferraris.
If they were put side to side it would be embarrassing.

That said, I completely get why people do the replicas, the real gto is the horniest shape car ever.
So even the smallest resemblance I suppose is a plus.

Wrong....Miura :lamborghini miura - Recherche Google

But I get also why people have built these kits.....but if they were true fans and these kits didn't exist - would they merely have a cabinet full of cute models instead surrounded by gigantic posters ?

You have a case Sean with the Lamborghini, I'll give you that.

Put a mint 240z side by side with a superbly done gto z clone and I'd imagine most would still choose the original design 240.

That's why we're here isn't it? (Not in existence, i mean on the forums!!)

I'd have to agree with you there, such a great shape. I also like the old Jaguar D-type:thumbs:

The Eagle Speedster is probably the best looking car I have seen.

The problem with the GTO kit is the Z has a high waistline compared to the Ferrari so the top half of the car looks out of proportion with the bottom half. If the wheel arches of the kit reached higher and the whole car was lowered a lot it might look better, but still a bit weird.
