Apologies

This club runs some great events and I recommend anyone to go.

There is something for everyone. I am 30 years old but feel old next to some of the young boys and gals in their Zeds to Zedfest and the Z0** events. There really is something for everyone, those that bring a flask and want to have a natter over a brew can, those that want to spend the night drinking the heavy stuff whilst being raucous in daft costumes all night can and families have fun and attend to:thumbs:

More fun than you can shake a Datsun 260z roll bar at!

The forum is just so bloody boring, I don't want to get to know most of the membership I'd die of bordom if I went to any of the meets gauging from what I've seen on here.

Rob

Then why the hell are you even bothering to come on here? In fact why are you even in the club if you think it is so boring and we are all a bunch of sad old flat-cap wearers?

Big words from someone who clearly has no intention/can't be arsed to actually actively support the club.

Some days we even run out of cocoa.

... flat-cap wearers?

I know you're a young fellow-me-lad like me Mr Parker but you do actually wear a flat cap sometimes! That's not a reflection of your support of the club though because you really do get involved and we're all the better for it...

Unfortunately Jak - you do have a point there.

I like to think I bring a sense of cool to flat cap wearing however...

The sentiment behind my point still stands though. :smash:

I love this club and the way it's members are car orientated rather that a bunch of teenagers sat around talking about dump valves and 0-60 times.

Now where's my flat cap :D

I'd happily get more Active in the club as you put it, But I live in the arse end of no where and I'm not going to spend £300 a time in fuel running up and down the M74, Especially to go to some tyre kicking event, I may well come down to santa pod or to a track day, But as for having anything to do with the running of the club I think not, I doubt I'd be very welcome gauging from my time on the forum.

By the way Dave I'm not ageist mate, I understand that age brings with it a degree of wisdom.knowledge and many more benefits, I'm nearly 50 myself.... But their just isn't any JOY to be had on the forum and you may say it's supposed to be about cars, But surely it should be about much more than that. If that means letting a bit of banter slip in now and again so be it. And maybe if you get a complaint about someone saying something to who ever maybe you should just tell the complainant to get a life ;).

I think a lot of the problem is that it's a single mark club, I prefer clubs with lots of different types of cars as long as they're old skool, I think I'll probably just read from now on I don't think I really want to get envolved with the club anymore, If I need help with something I know who to call.

Rob

There is nothing wrong with banter at all. That's what drives the forums when there are no car related issues to be resolved. It's when personal insults and name calling start that we have to consider taking action. Why would anybody want to read a screen full of two people arguing with each other? If you like that sort of thing then watch Eastenders :D

You're not too far from Knockhill are you? Modified live is on 15th May Modified Live @ Knockhill – Sunday 15th May 2011: 19-01-2011 If there is enough interest we will book a club stand ;)

I can't help it, all this make me think about Statler and Waldorf from The Muppet Show

Rob, don't run off, this forum is in need of members with thick skin

The thing that is not quite right with all of this is the fact that there is a debate over a members input on to the forum.
Some agree with that input and some don't.
The moderators have chosen to take the view of one side and acted accordingly. What happens to the views of the other side?
Well nothing, they just have to lump it apparently. Democracy at its finest!
The moderators have done what they think best and full marks for being a moderator and putting yourself in the firing line and full marks for all the effort you put in, without a doubt there would be no club without you.
But people must be able to speak freely. I have re-read the threads over and over and whilst there have been over enthusiastic posts I honestly don't think anyone on the receiving end of a sarcastic post has gone to bed in tears.
More to the point and ban me if you want but Andy's posts on this topic recently have been as abrupt, antagonistic and rude as the main 'offender' and he is a moderator!

I think the personal insults were removed, so are not on there now.

Admin actually ;)

The fact is you can read the threads as many times as you like - they have been moderated! All the offensive posts have been removed so you won't find them ;) Apologies if my posts come across as abrupt, certainly not meant to be. Simply stating the facts thats all. It's hard enough making these decisions and coming to an agreement on actions to be taken without a backlash from a few members who seem to think its a free for all to post whatever they like. Maybe I was rude to Rob for which I apologise, I just don't like being compared to a Nazi ;)

Yeah agree comparing the committee and mods to Hitler and Nazis is a bit disrespectful.

Maybe a new thread can be started for suggestions, without any name calling and the gist of the original thread can be started again?

So, finally someone else has noticed. I seem to remember seeing similar on other threads.
