Last year's trophies cost virtually nothing as they were cannibalised from the previous year's "spares"..
We had 6 Z blanks left over from last years Zedfest the others i had made that i gave FOC to the Z Club.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the idea of prize money being offered was to attract more people to the event, the dangling of the carrot & all that,
Getting sponsors requires effort and they like to see some return for their investment. The Club failed miserably in this for the first year, didn't do much better last year and now wonders why we are struggling to raise funds from prospective sponsors for 2008. I have pledged my support both physically and financially (MJP sponsorship) for 2008, but there has been no indication from elsewhere that any more money is forthcoming. I personally don't expect unlimited support from the Club's ailing finances, but the current attitude from some to a long running and moderately successful event that is a part of this Club's heritage beggars belief.
If you fancy helping out and chucking a few quid into the kitty, it will all help at the end of the day. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are we next going to ask the general membership to chuck in a few quid each Japfest, Oulton Park, Jap Show and all the other events
the money could be better spent,
33 people out of how many in the club, says it all,the majority aint interested in the drag race challenge,
Each to their own so good luck
But as you say - each to their own !
Talking of which, why peeps then add 40’s, cams and trick suspension is beyond me
Exactly that
So given the choice to go and see them in action and maybe participate myself then that’s for me.
Seeing them sat in a field covered in polish and wax isn’t.

What a strange lot you drag racers are.... some of us that sit on tartan rugs in a field with a car covered in polish also like to give our cars some wellie in the real arena, that being a nice bit of road, prefrebly twisty, hills, roundabouts etc.Arriving at pre determined destination, lighting the barbie, having a few beers to chill out and enjoy looking at others hard work and enthusism.....is that wrong? have I or others slagged off the drag lovers? nope. I and some others stated its not for us and don't see why we should be funding a meet that has a "piss poor attendance"
Of course if you look at the route the drag racers take on here;
Spend three years perfecting the car for a 1/4 mile.
Turn up at the track.
pay £25 entrance and race fee.
Pay £10 for a greasy breakfast.
first 2 runs get blown away by lesser powered car because the settings are wrong.
wait 1 1/2 hours in the line up
next run.... It stalls....time pointless comparitor
Pay £5 for a cuppa tea and a cardboard burger
Que for 1 1/2 hours in line up
Getting pi$$ed off because others are pushing in
car just before me dumps oil on the track so i loose traction..comparitor usless.
Gett a cup of tea....only £1
Re-que in line up for 40 mins
Great run..... accept I missed a gear because the box is now shagged
I go home and spend a month sorting out a new box.
And of course the cycle begins next time......gimme a tartan rug, a barbie, a few beers, a tin of polish and a large sociable crowd and I'm well away........ each to their own I guess.
I must be missing something here, why is a big prize fund important?
Surely the idea is to get as high up the 'Hall of Fame' as possible and have a good time trying.
If people are doing this for the money they are very misguided.
As a few people have said, everyone to there own! In a club like this no one type of event is any more important than another unless it is important for fund raising reasons.
The Drag Challenge is an excellent series and will attract those people who are interested in it, full stop.
although i suspect its a case of "mines bigger than yours"
