Got me wicker basket, tartan rug n polaroid all at the ready :thumbs:

Anyone got any sun cream they can bring along tho?
Only I used all mine on me venturies last weeked :eek:

Why not leave the wicker basket with the pork pies in the line up road and you may just meke the end of the strip in half an hour....;):devil::D........ take some grease in case your end needs some lube...:p
 
Well Maxim im entitled to my opinion and if you or anybody alse dont like it, or anybody elses opinion then dont get involved in threads where everyone has a right to express their feelings,i might not agree with yours,but then again i might,and just like grolls said and a few others the money could be spent better so the majority of the members benefit,but wot do i know,ive only been in the club for about 24 years and im getting old and miserable and demented and wot ever else you can think of
 
Grolls,mt brekkie was ok at the pod last year,i think i put something in yours to enhance the flavour

The only thing that is paid for out of the members subscription money for the Drag challenge is the Trophies ( please note clearly the Members) the same as any other trophy that the club awards

The prizes which a different thing from the trophies started two years ago and these extra costs were meet by raising sponsorship for the event.

The cost of this years prizes has already now been covered from sponsorship and donations with not a penny being spent from membership dues

If you would like more monies to be spent on the majority of the members I would suggest you became one for every £20 helps (its only works out to five and a half pence a day)
 
money spent on trophys for any Zed event,nowt wrong with that,as for rejoining,well that other bloke on saturday said wot a lot of us were sayin,he is going to join the register,his choice,no magazine will be the demise of the club unfortunately,but then again my next door neibour might be able to come up with something worth a look at, i might turn up at the pod 1 day you never know

This thread started with a polite, well meant, positive and proactive post designed to try to boost an event.... however, being positive and proactive is obviously a bad thing and to be decried, hence Rob was shot at in the first few replies.

No specific individual was asked to donate any money, instead, a very gentle "donate some if you feel like it" message was given out. Personally, I took no offence and was actually pleased that Rob was making the effort - had someone have said "anyone fancy donating for a barbecue after Japfest" I would not have been offended either and likewise would have thought someone was doing a good thing for a section of the club.

We are a little club guys, a LITTLE club ......... surely we should be grateful to those that put themselves out to either organise things or simply add value to the rest of us ? It does not really matter whether someone is trying to organise a party, a show, a motorsport event or simply a get together down the pub It does not matter if the contributor is organising something we individually like or not .... what matters is that some people are putting their money where their mouths are and seem to be getting shot at for it.

If the Berlin wall has been pulled down, glasnost abounds in the former Soviet Union and Highwayman Brown is taking a justly deserved kicking, SURELY we can live and let live and cut some slack for people who are trying to do the right thing ?

Why don't we all try something obscure, wacky and off the wall ? Why don't people who are not intersted simply go to the drag challenge for a chat, a burger and a giggle, not even to race if they don't want to (if they have not had their car dynoed) - that's why I first went and it was a fun day out .... and why don't people (like me) who have never been to the other events try to make the effort to attend ? Suck it and see ? You never know, we all might find there are other aspects of this club that we might like.

Like it or lump it guys, we are in it together - if we bitch at those trying to do good stuuf we will sink and die.

Anyone interested in the conncept of a Z-Ball run ?
 
That other bloke came back to me on the next day (Sunday) and said that he was going to arrange a couple of events for the club this summer emm so maybe he had such a good time at Billing with the rest of the members that it changed his mind:thumbs:

By the way hows the pms etc
 
I don't know why people need a prize fund when trophies are up for grabs AND a chance to get into the hall of fame. Thats the trouble with sport these days it's all greed... greed... greed. Back in the '70s when I was bike racing it was for trophies & if it had have been a case of fiver or trophy the trophy would have won every time.

Mr Ex those members who have been attending Santa Pod over the last few years DONT NEED any prize fund.
The concept of a prize fund was devised to try and tempt some ADDITIONAL members to come and join us. Its not greed at all, trust me. It doesnt seem to have worked very well but we have tried!
Personally i gave up some time ago on 300ZX.co.uk forum in trying to promote the Drag Challenge. Perhaps we should just give up on here too.

Like I said they should be doing it for fun & fame, money shouldn't enter into it.
 
Be nice to see a few of those Zed hill climber cars go up the strip
Or maybe even a Zed rally car?
Just to see how they go - side by side comp with a stocko road car :thumbs:

The more the merrier n more the interest :cool:

As said previously the prize fund is not coming out of the Z Club coffers
lets live and lets live and stop the attacks


The drag challenge has been as much a part of the z clubs heritage as the best zed awards as pmac says it was an attempt to attract more members to take part and jeez if it was greed why bother because it costs far more in the entrance fees petrol etc than anybody would get back

I must admit the blanket and wicker basket dig some time riles me but hey there is quite a few guys who's main interest in the club is Drag racing the same as there are some people in the club who's main interest is in concours and show and shine there are others who like hybriding their cars as much as the people who like to keep them stock and there others who love the two or three day get togethers

This club is meant to be "one club all the cars" but also it is meant to be "one club all the interests

If we carry on like this we could end up with numerous individual clubs like the
Z car camping club
the z car show and shine club
the z car rally club
the z car drag club
the z car not on the road club
the Z club samuri club

We need to unite and all pull to together and all respect others peoples Z interest no matter what they are and work at making this club a happy friendly place to belong to

Usually its, the same people,The same interest's Only a different track or venue.
So Hopefully Nobodies offended & Happy day'z are here again... DJZ 60.
 
I personally want to get into the Hall of fame and think I know have the car to get quite high up,( better clutch fitted) so will be making a big effort to get up there this year.
