What radiator is everyone using?

Hey all,

As the title suggests just looking to see what everyone is using as my stock radiator has seen better days and I am currently looking to replace/upgrade it. I've seen mishimoto offers a 240z radiator but I've also seen on ebay a few 3-row radiators that come with fans and a shroud that's cheaper.

I've already got an electric fan that I could mount to the mishimoto but just wanted to see what the club recommends before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

I'm using one a bit like this.
The sellers and brands come and go, but cheap chinese lives for ever.

Very similar here. Was a cheap buy off ebay several years ago . Fit great and had no problems at all .

Using one of the 4 core radiators with shroud and twin electric fans.
They really shouldn’t be sell this combo as the deeper 4 core radiator make the fan touch the water pump
The shroud and fan work ok on a 3 core Radiator.
Still I managed to adapt it to fit (albeit a tight one)
I’m sure all these alloy rads are from the same source in china

I did have a cheap Chinese one but then I suspected it had a leak and a large electric fan, 82 degree thermostat and I had hot running issues.
I now have a Mishimoto one with 2 10" Mishimoto fans which had some stupid metal discs on that said mishimoto which I removed and a mgb 75 degree thermostat as that was cheaper than a Nissan/ datsun one.
The car seems to run a lot cooler now.

Can 1 of you kind people measure the distance between the thermostat housing outlet and the radiator tank please. Straight line from stat outlet to nearest part of the rad.

Thank you. Ben

And if it's a tight fit you need good engine mounts.

I totally agree with that! I've had to space my fan 15mm forward due to the clearance issues with the ATi damper bolts! I still have a good deal of space between the fan and the monster deep 4 row aluminium rad.

I just swapped over to an aluminium rad as my old one was weeping and only getting worse. I bought the same rad as Jon's (but for a 280 / 260) came in at £129 delivered (in fact same as the one @yellowz posted but from a different seller). So it was worth a punt! Only tested it fast idling in the drive with the mech fan so far and after 10 mins on a warm day (20-25 degrees) it kept temps just over half on the gauge. Need to make a bracket to re-attach the electric fans as I wouldn't want any vibrations on an aluminium rad and the fins are only just stronger than tin foil :p - would be interesting to see what stone chip hits would do to it over time!

Only two of the holes aligned so I had to modify two of the other holes on the rad. The finish inside the inlet and outlet necks wasn't great, but easily fixed with a half round file and a vacuum cleaner.

Does look very motorsport tough and weighs probably a third less than the original rad.

I strongly suspect the Mishimoto is slightly better quality though and the design is different. But yes, I agree that they are all probably coming out of the same factory! Also I don't think the Mishimoto rads come in the 280/260 shape (I can't find one for comparison with mine, maybe I've become google dyslexic)!
