What did you do to your Z this week?

Progress... after much hassle.

There’s the little sod in the background, just behind/above the hose clamp in the pic below - blanking plug required when running triples not water cooled factory manifold. Next time, I’ll use a flush fitting Allen head there!

Now need to sort the fitting for the cable throttle on the manifold as it comes very close to the cam cover. Will need a shorter cable end fitting and maybe bending a bit to get the cable to clear the cam cover properly.

Cable throttle fitted. Got the spacer I designed from the engineers - makes the setup look super neat going through the firewall. The cable is a universal Venhill one; I had the spacer tapped for the Venhill fitting. The spacer also has a stepped boss on the back that fits tightly in the existing hole in the bulkhead. It’s got a nut and large washer on the inside of the bulkhead. The cable itself is soldered into a stainless ballend that clips on the throttle pedal’s ball. It’s a totally non-invasive mod - no drilling anywhere and reversible. Looks so much cleaner with all the rod linkage stuff removed.

I just need to adjust the linkage arms to the carbs a bit to increase the pedal travel.

Also got the head back - Kameari guides in:

Next will be roughing out the final combustion chamber sizes and designs.

I'm not keen on the cable conversions normally, they can look a bit messy/after thought to me, especially when the cable is too long and not secured properly.
That said, yours looks great, neat and tidy cable, and the bulk head spacer thingy... genius, nice job Rich :D

I had Autoglass booked for today to come and take my windscreen out so I could do a little repair on the A pillar.

They just called to suck their teeth and suggest "that type will break" and I should claim break/replace from my insurance company instead.

So I cancelled that and I'm thinking again. And cursing Autoglass.

Auto glass have had five screens made as I used them when I got back from Le Mans last year,I waited from July to October for them to get the screens made, don’t know if they were talking bolloxx or not and then they had to send two blokes round to take the old one out and put the new one in as a lot of their fitters don’t know how to use a bit of string, they take pictures of the metal surround before they touch it but I do know they had four in stock after October and up to now, hardly likely they have used all the others

I didn't doubt there are replacements available, just disappointed they didn't want to do the job I'd paid them for.
I took a Stanley knife to it already and it's pretty easy I reckon.

Here's the evidence, and the bit that needs repair.
I think it was lead filled back in the 90s, so I'll remove it all and let some steel in.

Been meaning to do this for a while - remove the smog pump. Ugly lump. But less about the owner ...

So yay, I got to do something.

I'll keep you posted Paul. 3 of them are for my cars and one was a spare but I can offer it to you. These were cheap to get made and I'm doing some computer work to pay for having all the bends put in them. If anyone else is interested then I can easily get more made for either left or right hand side.

I suppose i should attempt to fit one if you have any more made up, the couple of times the car has needed to be towed, the rope/chain was just wrapped around the crossmember, which rubbed on the bottom of the spoiler. No damage caused but not ideal, however i'm not entirely sure though, as Paul_S, that towing eyes are actually of any use with our front spoilers!
