Albrecht is right when he says the information is out there if you look

Take the club archive for instance all you have to do is look in the articles section of the clubs website and there is a list of national magazines that the club has in its possession and it has been there for about a year

Not my fault if people cant be bothered to search the site

It only runs from Nov 69 to Aug 93 at psesent as when we changed over servers I never finished entering the rest for Chris Threadgood and the layout got a bit messed up

But if you scroll down past the empty top part of the page it is there at the bottom

With regards to Sept 85 Classic and Sportscar article the club does not have a copy of this mag in its possession

A little more use of the finger to click the right buttons to check facts instead of post requests might be advisable

also had a bad day at work and also need to chill out

I'm only p***ed off at the attitude of some site members who can't leave an interesting subject alone to those who find it interesting - where is there a moderator when one needs one :) !

Thanks for info, I've emailed for an article !

Going back on topic, may I suggest that at the Yatabe speed trial in 1966, the car ran on Webers (and not Mikunis) and produced 200 bhp and !
The 1967 Shelby SCCA cars were obliged to have Solexes fitted and were 10 bhp down but in 1968 were back up to 205 and 240 lbs of torque (150 and 200 standard) !

There were 3 Shelby cars produced, a racer each for Dave Jordan and Scooter Patrick and a mule. The mule was later scrapped and the Jordan car destroyed in a crash (all this allegedly) ! Be nice to see the chassis number, dear Count, of the Goodwood Shelby car ! Case of asking them to 'prove it' :) !

Love that man Jez !

I think I prefer it in white and the car has to be a coupé - a convertible or targa top loses the form !

The Goodwood car is chassis number 1 (MF10-10001) according to the Classic cars article.

10006 was the original blue bonnet car driven by Dave Jordan, and 10005 the red bonnet car driven by Scooter Patrick.

10006 returned to Japan and was made into a replica of the '66 speed trial car.

Great thanks !

So 10006 went back to Japan and 10005 and 10001 stayed in the US, 10001 (the original mule car) was made into a replica of 10006 (the blue bonnet car) !

In SCCA 'C' production, the cars scored 3x 1-2 finishes and in total, 4x first places, 8x second places, 6x third places, 2x fourth places and 1x fifth place. An overall finishing record of over 80% reflected the reliability AND speed of the car and the quality of Shelbys' race preperations !

Toyota dropped the racing programme in favour of developing a group 7 car to carry their own V8.

Are there not similarities with Nissans' own R380 and later R381 with its' V12 ? These two companies were arch rivals ! In 1967, the R380II set many speed records at Yatabe which may have influenced Toyotas' decision to follow !

The last cars, (type MF10) were constructed for the 1970 model year ! The tupe MF12L were all left-hand drive and of 2.3 litre (important note : SOHC) with less bhp but more torque. There were probably les than 10 cars built in all - why ? Probably because at that point, the Zs were selling (and cheaper to produce) like hotcakes !
My understanding was -

MF10 - 3M block dohc 5 speed manual
MF10C - 3M block dohc 3 speed auto
MF12L - 2M block sohc - all left hand drive.....not sure about gearbox.

Only 9 auto's were made.

The later cars (1970 ?) are facelift models, you can distinguish them by the larger rear side markers.

You can just make out the red pin-stripe on the other 2000GT to the right.

I wonder if that's 10005, or a replica ???

"The 2000GT was launched in 1967 and was hailed as the greatest sports car ever released by Toyota even to this day. Although it did not sell in great numbers due to its high price at the time, it has nevertheless achieved cult status, and is a much-sought after collector's item today, fetching close to US$1 million for a mint condition example. The 2000GT was facelifted after 2 years on the market, as was the usual Japanese manufacturers' tradition. The changes on this model included a new front grill, re-shaped front driving lights, orange indicator lenses, new alloy wheels, new rear lights cluster, and larger-sized rear fog lamps"

It's all there if you Google hard enough.

Here we go :

233 MF10s (RHD of which 17 were automatic and 4 were in fact LHD !)
109 MF10Ls (L for LHD)
9 MF12Ls (the 2.3 litre versions of which two were automatic)
-----
351

But MF10 chassis nos. 10022, 10042, 10211, 10212 and 10234 are unaccounted for and when applied to Toyotas' and Yamahas' production figures :

238 MF10s (RHD of which 17 were automatic and 4 were in fact LHD !)
109 MF10Ls (L for LHD)
9 MF12Ls (the 2.3 litre versions of which two were automatic)
-----
351

----------------------------------

Or :

262 MF10s
85 MF10Ls
9 MF12Ls
----
356

There seems to be no dispute for the MF12Ls but the two figures of 262 and 233/8 for the MF10s and 109 and 85 for the MF10Ls come from the same book, using the same two sources - Toyota and Yamaha !

Still seems to suggest that there were a total of 356 cars built :)

There was also the Toyota Project No. 6 designed by Pete Brock, very similar to Nissans project 126X (sort of Lamborghini Marzal but two seats), the Nissan car was reproduced by Lesney in the Matchbox series ! Again, serious rivalry between these two companies !
