Great looking 240! Always nice to see one pretty much as it would have looked when it left the line. Much as I can admire the wide arch look I don't think I could ever bring myself to cut up a nice clean Z.

Coincidently my reg is 260M aswell, oh and I still have the rubber filler flap aswell.

Great looking car , is it white or a cream white ? Can't tell from my computer screen,

Where are you based ? I'm only in Swansea and my car should be finished an the next few months

Gary

It's white, the HDR function makes it look a bit cream.

I'm just East of Cardiff so not far from you :). I've actually traced an old owner back to the Mumbles :)

Lovely looking Z! Looks in really good condition

Another thing is that you still have the protective rubbers underneath both sides of your rear spoiler - I was told not many Zs have them left

You must have xray eyes Nathan.

I have rubbers on the corners of mine, round about the size of Polo mints - are they original then?

Lol no not those ones Rob although I do have those - the ones that fit to the corners of the rear spoiler that sit on top of the rear wings :)

We're the rubber protectors at the ends of the rear bumper standard? Definitely don't see many of those.

Oh I see, are they the standard ones then?

Someone commented on mine at one of the shows saying it's rare to see these nowadays - mine look like this:

I've got the proper rubber mounts on mine (I think).

My 260z has them too. Not really sure what they are meant to be doing?? Bit like those tailgate hinge seals discussed recently

She came out this morning which might be the last weekend before Spring.

I went to a friends garage to use his ramp to change my diff and gb oil

Turns out it was a bit of a waste of time as what came out was still like new. I imagine it hasn't been changed for 10 years!

I may take it out for a 100 mile trip tomorrow over the Black Mountains to the Pistonheads breakfast meet in South West Wales, we'll see.

How did you find changing the GB oil? I ended up doing mine from inside the car with a funnel and tube, couldn't find enough space underneath (and I have small girl hands)!

By doing it with garage facilities you kind of cheat. I had a pump that I just turned a handle on and in it went.

The hardest part of the job was the diff filler which needed some heat to come loose and took a bit longer than expected, this meant I had to take it into a shopping centre car park :eek: I parked appropriately of course :D

I don't think you'd fit two cars in those spaces anyway!

Your car is looking way too clean there by the way :)

Not updated this thread for at least 6 months, in that time she has had a loosen, tighten and re-grease of all the underside to ensure she stays tip top, a oil change and that's about it to be honest.

I did have her Swisswax detailed for this summer. *I thought she was super clean before but a crazy difference was achieved. * :D To say I was impressed is an understatement. Check this 50/50 shot.

Next I want to get a classic stereo for it, and maybe some 'original' diamond stitch covering for the shock towers and transmission tunnel. Currently I have really nicely made leather in there, but as it's not original it would be nice to swap it out. Then after speaking to '240z' at Japfest I now know where to get some :D

It's been 18 months since I updated this thread, but as I don't keep a project thread for this car like most others I own I thought it would be as good a place as any to bring the record up to date.

Up until the end of summer the car ran without a glitch, flew every MOT and was even featured in Practical Classics magazine. I have done a few shows and driven her rather hard on occasion, and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

On that day, I had some annoying brake judder, so I opted for new discs and a complete caliper rebuild during summer of this year

Then my first mishap... After the last show of the summer the throttle stuck playing with another car, the result was a big overrev. It was about an hour after this video was shot.

https://youtu.be/mCjcVGfVFws

The result was a bent valve (yes, only one), but whilst that was being addressed we decided to give her some attention. The work done in the past few months includes:

Valve replacement, and light polishing of head ports
New water pump
Complete new gasket set
All fluids changed (engine, gearbox, coolant, brakes etc etc)
New plugs and leads

Some pics:

The end result is she now runs better than ever and is a complete joy to drive. Below is a little celebratory video my missus took earlier today :)

https://youtu.be/_jkwMZR4QJE

She is now back away for a top up of Swissvax Shield and will come back out once salt stops going down.

Happy Z'ing :driving:
