new classified system is poor.

I recently had another issue on a mk5 golf website. You can't sell anything there until you have 100 posts and 3 months membership!

(Both of which are free, but I guess that way only active members can sell)

I don't think that works either though as I have a piece to sell that would potentially save someone money but I can't advertise it.

=( Segregated.

So let me get this straight, unpaid "members" don't have the abilities to actually buy or sell?
That's just silly....

So is driving at 55 mph........but it's the law !

In fact as a non paid-up member, you CAN post to sell and can buy but your ads won't be seen by other non-members until a week has passed.

Is that right Big Bro or can non-members not even post up a sale ?

Haha, so i am trying to save my car and a website full of enthousiasts who want to do similair things with their car isnt helping me with it, and they only do it when i pay them for it? Weird..

So if i wait for a week i can read the floorpan ad?

As much as I agree with the decision to give full members first dibs on items advertised for sale on the club site, I do think a week is too long; afterall, wouldn't most full members come on to the site more regularly than once a week anyway?

Even though the committee may feel that the amount of criticism dished out makes them feel like standing firm and leaving things the way they are, for the sake of 'kaizen', why not look at tweaking it slightly and reducing the time scale a bit, say to three days, and removing the need for an ad to be 'approved' so that it shows up as soon as the ad is created?

good compromise dale.

but they have lost another member when renewal time comes.

Folks, it does rather feel as if we can't do anything without a barrage of criticism.

It seems like you think it is a 'them and us' situation but it's not. We have made changes because either 'website members' were abusing the right to advertise items, Z Club members could not see enough benefits or you have asked for it.

People felt strongly at the 2009 AGM about the classified 'abuse' issue and it was agreed to do something but that hasn't proved easy for lots of reasons. Then we had the recent 'flare up' about classifieds and website members so we brought about change, but not before we ran a Poll to confirm support for the change.

You may have noticed that many of the Committee are now very quiet. No matter what we do or say we end up in a massive debate. I haven't got enough time for this, I spend far too long trying to help members with car problems, Membership Duties, now Classified admin. duties, organising events, writing AGM minutes etc etc.

Rahail, if you feel that the changes to the Classified system are soooooo bad that you do not want to be a member any more you need to stand back and have a think about it. If you still feel that way then you are a buyer/seller rather than a Z Club member.

Dale, yes we can 'tweek' the system but let's give it a bit longer first after all folks did say they wanted the timescale to be 7 days.

Aside from getting a lot of advice from here already, I also joined up cos of the new classifieds system, I had the intention but to be honest I probably would have delayed it longer if I had access to everything so in a sense it's helped get me on board.

I don't think turnout at the meeting should really matter, I'm a member of about 7 free car forums and everything is usually decided online. But it seems there's a lot of tight people out there who don't want to part with £15! And going by some replies it would seem some members have put in £15k and want a huge return from it! This place for me is a platform to share ideas and get help, thats what I pay for, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference if non members can't see ads for a few days.

Oh and btw, WHERE THE HELL HAS MY AD GONE?! It's been approved but it's not appearing in the for sale section.. MSA 280zx bodykit

You might want to get this checked out, I can't see it, I've just been down the whole 1st page of the for sale page, I don't know if anyone else has this problem

Tee, it's had 34 views so far. It's the latest Ad so appears on the home page too. Can you see Zedhead260's dust covers?

These are the first 3 I can see, exactly in this order -

Car parts and Other Items for sale - Brake sheilds (from UK 260Z)

Car parts and Other Items for sale - FULL O.E ZG CONVERSION KIT *RARE*

Car parts and Other Items for sale - shock absorber dust covers

....and removing the need for an ad to be 'approved' so that it shows up as soon as the ad is created?

Unfortunately this is not possible. The ONLY reason they go into the moderation queue is so that they can be placed in the members only section for the initial 7 day period. They don't go into the queue for any reason other than that. I hope that makes sense :)

That explains why I don't remember them ever being approved before :). Yep, it does make sense.

So the classifieds under the trade section only show ads over 7 days old hence the reason why they are available for all to see..? would explain why mines not in that section then
