I've just had a quiet look at my sensibility (in the bathroom) and I think it's been infringed. I blame this forum.

Where can I claim my compo?

Technically...a person can only look a fool if judged so by his peers ie everyone else aside from the two people concerned - the silent mass whom have been supportive of the plaintifs.....there is a contradiction there somewhere but it's late in the day so whatever.

Feeling a fool is introspective and more of what a plaintif might complain - nobody likes to feel a fool.

Very sorry I upset the sensitive and/or unknowledgeable and may I ask that those people ask questions - open a thread - participate in the common exchange in order to learn more.....if that is their wish.

Do you think it might be worth reminding Sean why he got banned. The poor bloke has come on here looking for a car and Sean as usual is giving the bloke the third degree and it's off putting. I'm sure Sean doesn't realise it its just the way he is but he needs to be a bit more welcoming.

Well Sean baby I belong to more than 1 car club and there is no petty stuff wot so ever going on,you even get told wot you can and can't say on here,and you don't need a forum to keep in touch,there is a thing called a phone.,we have a little group round here all with 240 260 ,most never bin in a club,oops,meant forum,I'm with you riddler,might be worth looking at your local classic car club that caters for classic cars if that's your thing,from sunny egypt

it appeared to have been resolved between the two parties and I still maintain that people should present themselves on here (should be a forum 'rule') before begging free help and advice.

I asked some pertinent questions, one of which you quoted re why during the years he was searching he hadn't joined the forum...which has magically disappeared Rob - why ?;)

I certainly wasn't criticising him (did you read that anywhere ?), just curious and felt that the answers might help in the long run with attracting membership as his case can't be a solitary one and if he'd merely typed out a small paragraph explaining his chemin to this point - I'd have said hello and offered advice - mutual respect !

But something doesn't add up - no time to find a project = no time to restore one either......

With respect, may I remind you that imho the club ought to look after its paid up and loyal members first and before the newbies.

It's one thing to encourage them to hopefully later become members, it's another to lose those existing ones.

What do you mean 'as usual' ? How many enquirers have I replied to.....check the facts please.:thumbs:

Certainly agree with this part 100% for after all it is due to their continued support that this place continues to exist and allows others to slag them off

The difference in perceived 'entitlement' between paid-up club members and any so-called "freeloading" forum-only members is always going to exist whilst you have the distinction between the two. Either the forum is open to non-members or it is not. Quite how you would attract new members ready to pay-up via a closed forum is your Catch 22.

You're very quick to home in on the so-called "slagging off", but apparently forget or overlook the many instances when data, advice and even hard parts have been imparted gratis and for the greater good. It isn't a one-way street. I notice those who are quick to take offence are very vocal, and those who have received the data, advice and free parts are quiet.

But the one-way street is my point also - people come on all the time, very often w/out a presentation and expect help and advice - a little give and take ie 'pretty photos' and a little speel of who, why and what might be expected in return.

There should be a presentation section and people should be at least encouraged to post there if not mandatory !:smash:

Not quite gratis is it when it there is always an ongoing disregard to anyone's feelings with the nature of a lot of your posts when others have the audacity to not be as knowledgeable as you or good forbid they do not agree with you

To imply it is OK to be rude,insulting and belittling to some on here just because you have given data and advise IMHO is so arrogant it really makes me wonder if you have a secret admiration for dear old Mr Goertz whose attitude was remarkably similar

But no matter what anyone says you will never change or even consider that you may upset others because you would see that beneath you

I think you simply don't know the full story what's been going on behind the scenes.

If the 'Deep Throat' style complaints and reports of people queuing up to complain are to be taken as valid evidence, then so should the PMs and e-mails I get from people who are apparently in support of the opposite view.

My experience from numerous forums over the years is that some of these Deep Throat type figures and the popcorn-munching cheerleaders in the peanut gallery are actually one and the same...
 
If I and others do not know what is happening behind the scenes and if it is so important to everybody shame on the people for keeping it to themselves to enhance their own knowledge or keep people in the dark
Surly the Goertz mythe occurred and was accepted because of the lack of knowledge easily available to everybody for many years and as you are aware it has taken a couple of decades to dispel the incorrect facts on this
Not quite sure what "Deep Throat" style comments are and not sure what "Deep Throat type figures and the popcorn-munching cheerleaders in the peanut gallery" means or is it part of the terminology used behind the scenes and if so nt sure I would want to be part of it

Meaning those that complain discreetly are one and the same as those who egg on any heated discussion to provide them with entertainment. For instance, Status' comments don't help, non-member....why not ban him ?:rolleyes:
