For her 17th Birthday

Hopefully this may have just put her off

 I suppose that's one advantage of crazy insurance prices, you get to keep your car.

The missus is taking her 'eight' driving test soon and thinks she'll be able to drive the Z33 if she passes. ROFLMFAO :lol:

Should be a darn sight easier to insure a girl than my Son.

He's just turned 18 and has always been insured in my 240 amongst other things

To be fair, that was based on a policy fully comp in her own name, not as an added driver to my own policy.

Asda was one of the most expensive quotes at nearly £11K.

Even for a "small" car, regardless of age or value, still looking at £2.5K+

I like being mid-thirties now. :)

I really feel sorry for the youngsters starting off at the moment. An "expert" recently told me that one of the best ways round this is to buy a knackered scooter as soon as they are eligible, 16? and start to get an insurance history built on that. Crazy prices.

i must be getting number blind as i thought it was about £900 but then i thought that was good but then i noticed the other digit on the end.:eek:

It makes my quote look cheap !, I'm 17 in 2 weeks time :willynilly: perhaps I wont moan too much now I have seen your quote.

Don't forget to find the cheapest, then phone them DIRECT. Go compare showed my cheapest quote was with Morethan @ £950. I phoned Morethan direct and they quoted me £750! :D

don't forget when looking for quotes for young people in their own right to add a parent as a named driver. This should give a large saving (so long as you don't have too many points).

I find it hard to folow the insurance process,
My son drove a 50cc for 2 years, with no claims. When it came to insure him on a car, they did not take account his no claims, but would take into account any accidents!
However, last year he changed cars, from a Polo 1.1 to a Volvo 480ES 2.0, & the insurance dropped by £100!! - Reason, young lads aren't supposed to be seen in Volvo's - uncool

I can't find any explaination on Confused.com :smash:

There's something about there being little record of young lads driving grandad cars like idiots (for example the 480, or a 1.8 Focus) but there's loads of people that have crashed Saxos...

I think if I was just getting my licence now I wouldn't bother with insurance and pocket that £1000+ to replace my car when the police crush it and pay the fine.

My insurance cost me a massive £109 fully comp with all mods declared lol, Oh and no limit on mileage either.

I don't like classic insurance because I'm not having some suited **** telling me how many miles I can drive my car yearly/

There was a show on tv the other night about insurance and they had an 18 year old lad on it, his quotes were around £2.5k so instead of getting a car he bought a 1950 something tractor and insured it for £57!
He's now driving around a housing estate in his tractor

I saw that in the paper a few weeks back. His family own a farm and this tractor is like about 60 years old.

Imagine if my daughter wakes up on her birthday and there's a 1964 Massey Ferguson on the drive with a big bow. I think that would be the MOTHER of all strops.

When i saw the 17 year old in the tractor i thought how reassuringly safe is that .NOT.- insurers do work in mysterious ways
Ref the 9k Zed quotes - i bet they were in a safe postcode aswell.Inner city it would be minimum 18k
Comparison websites rubbish for young drivers and risk postcodes

just as an aside to this prior to joining the Z club we owned a farm. My ambition was always to own a Lamborghini and I soon realised that this was almost an impossibility so I bought a Lamborghini tractor, 32 gears and 40k flat out but i suppose i got my wish!

Also my eldest used to drive to school on the farm quadbike and carry my youngest in the trailer. Oh for the joys of rural living.
