My 2+2 renovation

rear spoiler required

I have decided to renew the rear spoiler and take it back to standard.
But does anyone have one for sale?
Needs to be in good nick with bolts intact etc and suitable for a 260z 2+2.
Not sure but think they are all the same.

Andrew, so they are different then.

I wonder if your's was customised because of difficulty in finding one when it was resprayed.

I am not sure as it has the original yellow paint underneath.! So I think it was with it when new. It was resprayed in 1989 and this is when they decided to cut it and blend it into body work. It may be that when they took the spoiler off to do the respray the bolts snapped and they just bonded it on etc.

Thanks for the help guys.
I am wondering if I could remove the one I have, and re-attach the 2 end pieces and refurbish it. And reinstall as original but painted same as body etc.

Yes you would think so,as its one of the few parts that won't rust:D
I bet there have been loads scrapped with spoilers left on.:(
In Australia they are quite highly regarded.
Here is a link to a race version in Oz, check out the engine spec, pretty unconventional carb setup!
Dastun 260z 2+2 Race Car

Just proves they do handle!!
I remember being surprized just how controllable on the limit at Spa, must be the long wheelbase making it easier to catch the backend!!

Some of these Hillclimbs in Oz are pretty strange, The one in Morwell in Vic the finish is well below the start its more of a descent!!

Somebody must have a spare 2+2 spolier.

Nearly all welding finished

This is moving along quite quickly now these pic were taken a week ago so there has been more work since then. It should be in primer by this time next week.

1st pics show new chassis rail and repairs to chassis box section.
The second rear quarter has been welded into place as well.
All inside wheel arches have been fabricated and replaced as well as the corner sections for the rear dog legs.

The good weather has arrived so Iam itching to gettingb this on the road.!!

It's finally paint day!
It was painted in 2pac solvent.
Top coat just about to go on shell, and spoiler already painted waiting a couple of days before buffing then on to the rebuild!!

That spoiler looks fantastic, better than when I sent it to you!

Andrew, if the 260 is the same as a 240 you will have two badges for the spoiler. So be aware that if you want to fit two you will need to make some holes in it. It might be best fitting the badges when it's off the car so that you can get to the inside of the spoiler if you need to.

You are going to be so proud of your car and you were very proud of it before!

The 260 Z only had the Datsun badge on the righthand side of the spoiler.

Ye Rob
That wouldn't be difficult!!
I have the Datsun badge which fits on the flat bit so should be ok It has the 3 pins although the middle one is broken I think.
It is quite rewarding renovating stuff I wish i was good enough at it to make a living out of it.

Cheers
Andrew
