when refurberishing your front rail, go very thicker where front sway bar is clamped to rail.
If you don't oversize your suspension, it is not usefull... but nor un-usefull

I have teared for the second time the right rail with the sway bar

Thanks Sylvain

Yes, inside the rail to be more elegant...

But that is again teared with the 1 inch bar

roof repaired

one inch antiroll bar, pretty stiff think you might be hitting the limit of the chassis there??

I have found a decent pic of what the frame rails should look like quite different from 240 ones and a pic of the fifnished roof repair.
Which I thought was going to be difficult but which turned out to be easy.

Chassis Rail

We got the petrol tank out and finally cut the old chassis rail out yesterday.
As you can see the bodgers just welded new metal on top of old so just rotted from inside out. I think you can see the sharply undulation floor pan profile in the pics, one side of the rail is much longer than the other.
The floor has rotted right along the join with the rail so I am going to a fabricators on Tuesday to see how much it will cost etc.
Just think this car passed its MoT no probs in October!

Drivers rear quarter and sill

Hi got rear quarter cut off and discovered some more rot at rear part of drivers sill.
Probably caused by yet another bodged repair. rear section wasn't too bad to be honest bit s of rust here and there an outer arch was pretty bad, got a new nissan quarter so might as wellk replace the lot!!
Any tips when fitting new quarter greatly appreciated!

Thanks Rob
Missed that one, I just don't understand how cars get in that state?
Its had some recent work done on chassis and bodywise looks like it could be saved.
A lot of parts missing though and the interior is rooted!

Genuine Nissan rear quarters help a bit.
And the guy doing the difficult stuff is the chap who painted Mike B's car.
I am just doing all the donkey work!!:D:D

Andrew, while you are doing the body are you going to remove that 'custom' rear spolier?

.

I think years ago when they weren't worth very much people had no interest in doing proper repairs so just plated over the rot to get it through the next mot.
I bought my oe 240 from a garage in consett well over 20 yrs ago and paid 500 quid for it!!
It had an mot but had loads of dodgy plating.

How Rob, don't you like it?
It is a normal spoiler just blended into the body.
I am not sure, my intention was to keep it even though it would be easier to lose it.
Just wondering if I could still take Blanchimont flat out, without it!:D
I will not be offended if people don't likeit , it would be good to get an opinion.

What are the differances in windscreens?

rear windscreen av got in garage on rafters, just what my dad bought when we had a 2+2, all i got told was that rear windows are diff to the 240 and 260z 2 seaters

I wonder why it was done, is the tailgate rusty underneath it?

My opinion is to remove it and fit a standard spoiler. It's a far safer option for resale value too.
Just my input - I don't find it ugly just an unnecessary mod. and a good time to return the car to a standard spoiler.
