Le Mans Classic 2016 8, 9 + 10 July

Sean, I've been to the Classic twice not once and the dress code was just a distraction and not evident. I attend historic racing meetings for the cars and racing not the clothing.

If you want to go to a 'Classic' fashion show feel free.

I BEG your pardon - twice !

You're missing the whole aim of the atmosphere if you go, sit and watch the cars on the track in your mankini.:D

I can only reiterate that the organisers have stressed that they'd like to upgrade the total 'look of the event - probably having studed Goodwood Revival etc

https://www.google.fr/search?q=good...49_NAhWJL8AKHQh9BkQQ_AUICCgB&biw=1920&bih=955

I don't see what your problem is or understand why the fashion-show comment but I will (in 2018) strongly stipulate the dress-code before anyone spends any money.

Then people can either come on our stand, participate and not let the others down or they can go park up in the multi-make car-park on the edge of the circuit grounds.;)

I don't see the fuss about dressing a little smart for basically one day - Saturday - one can always chill out back at the campsite and during the night whilst watching the racing.

There IS a competition to win helicopter rides, track passes, VIP tickets and other goodies but as a club, we're doomed.

Probably a stupid question but how do we find you at the campsite? Presumably look for the Datsuns?

Here is a video I took and notice Sean at 1.15 is in shorts and nothing else (ok I know this is the campsite! :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49dN53JrePw.

And your point is Rob ? Yes - I was in shorts...when I was interviewed and got our cars mentioned on national French TV....!

Just doing what I do best - promoting the marque.

Wearing shorts then has no relevance to requesting a smart dress code now - things evolve - they have 'cos staying still is going backwards.

I'd ask you to respect this event (to which you're not attending) and all the hard work gone into it.

I've asked people to respect the organiser's and therefore our hosting clib's wishes - if there are those that don't - I can' thelp that but I really don't appreciate your distant trouble-brewing from someone who insists upon keeping this forum calm - you're behaving rather hypocritally Rob - you're better than this - are you a Wales supporter ? Hardly France's fault.:p

An oriflamme Club Datsun-France and probably a flagpole from this camping car of Steve Bamford with some Datsun flags....and yes, some Datsuns.

Oh, and I'll be the one in shorts......

Sounds like some people are trying to ponse things up with a dress code, wots that all about,no rusty datsuns on the stand etc, don't think I'll bother in 2018 if it's going down that route,

Please don't although your Datsun is the last I'd expect to be rusty.:p

That's wot I said,I'll go with car enthusiasts then, not sure wot Datsun yet though

We ARE Datsun enthusiasts....this is one weekend every two years, shouldn't be too hard to make an effort once here to 'dress-up', take a bit of pride in not just the car's appearance but our own to put up a good image of club and cars.

Well I'm a classic car enthusiast to which I've had many, who came up with this stupid idea because you will put some people off and to incinuate that people should take a bit of pride in their appearance is not a good thing to say, roll on the Next fashion show,I'll get me self a hat, ain't got time for this bullshit so won't say no more, over and out

I think the British did with Goodwood Revival Paul back in 1998 (so nearly 20 years ago)....in any case, for 2018 you'll probably need a visa to come over.

Lots of people dress up for good wood revival and I feel it makes the event just that bit more special. It is optional though. As has been said, there is a dress code for lots of events now and it does raise the general tone of the events. I may not fully agree with the dress code for LMC as I think is goes a little too far but I will be dressed in what I consider acceptable for the style of event and the 28c unbroken sunshine that's forecast.

Don't be a knob John:p - come as you wish, no-one has to respect the dress code or even my request to do so for the club and car's sake - you know - why both of us work hard at promoting an event in each country - it's why I won't have grubby-looking, half-finished cars on the stand.
Chill out at the campsite, smarten up for the stand and access to the paddocks - it's what I'll do anyway.

If you need to waddle around in flip-flops, tatty denim cut-off shorts and a vest t-shirt with a burger stain on it - feel free. some of us won't be - we'll be trying to be part of the whole classic scene.

Clear now.
Sorry Sean, I'm neither a knob, nor do I wear flip flops and burger stained vests, but I, like you, am entitled to an opinion and that is mine, read my first post on the subject re the 'knob' in his Asda pants.
I too will dress accordingly as Johnymd points out. That's all I'll say on it and look forward to the cars, the racing and the sunshine (hopefully).

So, for all those actually participating this year - we're agreed - something appropriate which remains optional.
Don't forget, courtesy of the French Datsun Club and Zstory ; cool, bubbly served on the club stand just after noon on Saturday - bring a straw !:D

Hopefully catch up with you guys over the weekend.

Weather is great, stopped off on our way for an early morning walk and spotted my first French classic ;)

On y va - yes !

If you can bring a euro camping socket (male obviously) leading to your choice (uk or French) mains ext board - there is electricity. Plenty of showers and toilets too.

Straight in 250m from the gate (be careful it's not clear from the road so don't hurl down) CAMPING EPINETTES after the trees you'll see the oriflamme Club Dtasun-France with a silver Kia Sedona in front of a US motor-home.
We've taped off all the plots together. The more people squeez up, the betetr the communal area we'll have. Plots of 20ft from the enarest toilet/shower block).

Just need you guys now - Nique (Nicknox)...I wonder if he'll get the play on his name ? has already been down to see us and collected a replacement dizzy cap and arm to get him home : Club spirit !

Now, where's my cold beer - even in shorts it's ***** hot:rolleyes:

Sorry Sean, I'm neither a knob,
Sorry - text changed ! Been a long time planning this and then plenty of epopel all 'discover' that I've been asking to be smart-ish at the last moment and your comment 'if I'd known maybe I wouldn't have come' comment snapped me. Like someone for Donnington saying 'oh, on a field - I don't do mud' !:D

Will all be fine in the sun with a beer - hurry up.

Seen some very nice cars today in France heading to Le Mans inc a green 240z should have planned my week a little better and stayed to see the racing.
