FFA at Festival of Speed

I saw the Kronos car at the weekend in Spa, very nice but not a 'competition' car. It was lapping a lot slower than my car and and even sporting solid front discs which the owner said didn't get hot even with 4 pots! I said he wasn't pushing brake pedal hard enough.

Nice car but in my view not 49 Euro worth.

The Fourways race car - wow, my choice!

FFA, the value is in the history - great car and road legal so practical. Estimate, well who knows - I was surprised by Big Sam.

Duncan - I can't say more at present ;).

Rob - I never said it WAS a competition car - the second one he's building IS though and that'll be for sale soon.
I merely quoted another respectable selling price.

The market over here rates the cars better than in the UK.

A good price for the car, in my opinion, and well deserved with all that provenance.

Thanks for the info, Jonathan.

yep i had a good look at that car yesterday , very cool car , but wow big money , got to be the most expensive uk z ever !

I wonder what that makes a "Kevin Irons owned 260 Sam" worth today then Duncan....;) ;)

Not quite Jimmy

I have been watching the cars go through this afternoon (on the net, can't get down there as much as I would have loved to go) and recession my **** there is plenty of money changing hands. Classics are definately on the up again.

yep agree with that classics are now going silly , i was in the Coys tent yesterday and you could smell the money !!! not mine i will say lol :p

Like a lot of Artefacts, it is the History connected with the item that gives it such a high perceived value.

Not just what the Metal is worth in itself; in other words, it is the connections that it has & it's place in the background History of Classic Cars from the 70's in general, & the 240Z in particular - at least, in the UK.

My comment about my car was 'tongue in cheek' Duncan, but looking at the sales figures on Bonhams site there is a definite upward movement on values of cars that are a bit either special or different or as you say have a history, although a beautiful 1972 Ferrari Daytona with lovely mileage never made reserve, so if my name is on that 136 million quid ticket tonight can I have first dibs on that :D

That said, at Goodwood today even a Steve McQueen Le Mans film poster made 900 quid, and a Heuer Monaco watch made over six grand - big money, no?

Not sure about the £100k car that pmac alluded to, but certainly the Values ( i.e achieved Sale prices ), of good quality 240Zs and for that matter, the 260Z 2 seater, have risen markedly in the last 3-4 years.

Not sure about the over-ambitious offerings from some Chancers, mind you !

It's been said before on these hallowed grounds, I know, but the Market in general has woken up to the fact that they are extremely good value in absolute terms, and if you look at the equivalent values of pure mediochrity like the Deloreans, etc., they were certainly underpriced until quite recently.

And I reckon that yours has upped in value by at least 15-20%, Jonathan. Dammit......

I think they are under valued myself , and thats not because i own one , just i see the mental prices Escorts are fetching and i know mine drives so much better than most Mk 1 or 2 Escorts , having driven i mint 18k mk rs 2000 i can speak from experience ;)
