All you have done is pick up on the fact that the words “light weight” don’t appear in the examples (despite the fact it says “no distinction is being made between modified or un-modified”). You appear to understand that lightweight = modifiede.g. –Quote:Originally Posted by SeanDezartshouldn't lightening the original cars' structure be considered as a performance enhancementQuote:Originally Posted by SeanDezartone of the simplest ways a standard car would go quicker is to be lighterSo why the debate ? So, in order to go faster, one must increase the power with the risk of going up a class or...............decrease the weight ! Shouldn't this last factor also be considered as a reason for moving up a class ?Say, any car weighing 5% less than it's intended weight could have a time penalty or move up a class ?Surely lightened and strupped-out cars should be classed differently than those running as standard ?
These, Rob and Pete were my original questions - there was no manipulation or provocation here - they were simple questions and lightening a car in my view is still classed as modifying - I don't consider myself stubborn here - I just consider it as an ever so obvious fact.

Ok, this thread has highlighted some clarification regarding non-road legal cars (for you & I at least) – but that still has bugger all to do with weight does it. Chuck four bags of cement in the back of Ben’s car and it’s still super-modified class 7 – as I assume Big Sam & the Fourways car.
Yes it does have something to do with weight !

And this is a classic, you mock us for accepting Mr F’s word as soon as he speaks and then ……Quote:Originally Posted by SeanDezartMr F. I trust you with any rules alterations !As do we all Sean, welcome to the fluffy bunny club – good grief !
Alright, conceeded it was badly phrased - I still don't automatically agree with Mr Fs every word - even IF he's proved right, it's nice to know WHY he's right - blank acceptance teaches us nothing !

No, don't ever feel pity for me - yuk
My car will have neither a current MOT nor have paid up road fund licence; and so I'm either excluded or must run in super-modified class 7 - another "British only " attitude
?I was hoping you'd guess that Rob without getting 'catty' - why are you all so emotive here - is this forum your (the collective you) safety valve from life ?

Yep, well said Rob. I agree 100%The truth of the matter Sean is that what you have done is potentially alienated yourself from the small group of people who have put a lot of time and effort into trying to "liven up" (your term) the Z Club Drag Challenge. Its not our fault that you are sat in splendid isolation in the middle of rural France without a 240Z and clearly with too much time on your hands. However that is no reason to be a keyboard Ninja and launch in to an ill informed tirade against one of the clubs long established events and those who participate and organize it.Now why dont you try and move along???
Your perception of the truth of the matter Pete - if I have alienated myself - tough on me and I've done it before and no doubt it'll happen again - I don't have 'my' 240Z but do drive the yellow one here and frequently drive my Z31. I recognise the back-ground work before the season started to make the drag challenge more attractive and have said so throughout this thread AND I don't consider what I have done can be classed as a tirade nor ill-informed. I accept that I am an 'outsider' re. drag runs but that should not eliminate any right to comment upon and indeed question the rules or classing or whatever. Healthy debate - that's all it is and some comments that get thrown up are surely worth considering at the end of the season.

If you feel its your duty to start debates or threads try something more original. Tell us about your Z scene in France as most of us cant read French and dont know much about the French club and web site. This forum is so restricted in its "British only " outlook.
Look back on the threads I started over the last month and you'll see that no-one is interested; look back over some of the Clubs' magazines and you'll see I was doing a regular French scene article (that could easily be developed into a thread on this forum) but it died an apathetic death before the new editor took over.Duty ? Yes - I am a participator and the only really frustrating thing for me is that I can't do more and be a lot more involved. Don't patronise me Pete and I read your threat of 280ZX parts from your list, even if you did put a smiley at the end. Remember, it was you who commented that the site was dull (before last weekend) - don't take things personal and if you're up there as an organiser, take the heat.

And finally... If ya dont like the rules ... cos you think they dont favour you then dont take part.
It all smacks of " it's our game" from you Pete !It's so hard to resist diving into petty sarcasm here - it's so present ! Yes, I love debating with you guys (and gals) but all too frequently it is taken personally from over-sensitive people - c'mon, let's discuss things, even emotively if you like but keep it rational. We're all very passionate I know !Here is a simple question : Please may we see printed in each mag, the Drag Challenge results AND the current Hall of Fame which would include ALL classes of cars, is the stock models and their slower times than 14.99 ? To clarify, I'd like to see std 240, 260 2 seater, std 260 2+2 and so on !Cherry on the cake ? Do launch control aids still class a car as no different from standard ? .................still anything goes ?
