well deserved. I think 9hrs is good for that, I'd be happy.
As always, it's the small things that take time.

Took the opportunity to change the bushings to the steering rack and some other things.

Then i realised I had forgotten about the throw out bearing, a $20 part... in the end I used the old one, it looked like it had been changed recently. Not optimal, but what can you do...

Took three tries to set up the lift correctly to be able to get the engine in...

Looks like you did the engine and box at the same time, hat off to you for that.
Haha, thats what the service manual said. Was not too bad, my hoist managed to reach, just...

I can say that it was easier than on the MGB, and there you dont have any choice. Full package or nothing... :(

Great stuff Peter!

Are you fabricating a whole new harness from scratch? That’s a whole lot of work but something I plan to do. If so, I’ll be interested to see what you do.

Also, is that an air con pump I see (front right looking at the car)?

I'm doing a new ECU harness and power harness for the engine AUX. I have to do that since I'm running the ITBs now and an aftermarket ECU. If I were to strip the whole car I would do new harnesses for everything.

Yeah, that is a air con pump. I just realized it will not work together with the harmonic dampener. So it will now be connected right now. Will try to solve this further on. Prio one is to get the car running again

I’d have thought you’d have removed the air con for weight reduction and frictional loses [emoji2] .

Great progress yesterday:

First I took of the prop shaft and mounted it into the gearbox. Bolted it on again. It was a tight fit to reach the bolts...

Then, header installation

And when I mounted the ITBs I striped two pin bolts! They were just a little bit too short. So I changed all of them where the thick washer is in place.

So off it all went again, and then an hour later it looked like this:

Then I did the new ECU loom in front of the TV while my wife was watching something

Car looks spot on, I like the XK150 DHC, my dad has one as well in red, lovely cars, he has an XK140 as well which he restored back in the 80s so I've been around them for a very long time.

Thanks Geoff!

The XKs are fantastic cars. Great summer cruisers that still handle modern traffic more than well. Suspension is ancient, but sort of suits the drive. The are beautiful
