Could've bought one by the time this one's finished

That's very true mate but I'm not very trusting when it comes to buying old cars from people, I could of been stuck with some right bag of old bolts with umpteen hard to spot bodge ups, Plus I like to put my own stamp on things anyway, After selling my pulsar I had cash to spend on another project so I might as well spend it doing something I enjoy doing.

I did get cought on the first 260 I bought even though I tried my best to make sure I didn't get done over, But that's water under the bridge now.

Well it looks great mate and I'm sure will bring you many, many hours of proper Cheshire cat grinning factor fun. The more of these on the road the better. It's great that someone has enough care to do it. All too many classics end up 'away the crow road' nowadays because of modern societies lack of respect for anything other than the here and now. Can't wait to see it finished!

I Just got the bill for all the work on my car today :eek:, Lets just say it was a bit more than I was expecting :(, But they are going to fix both the rear quarter panels that are a bit out of line as part of the job so not to bad really, They've spent just over 200 hours on it so far so their was quite a bit of worked evolved to get it to this point.

The E-type in the work shop has already cost the owner 10k  so far so I shouldn't feel to bad I suppose :lol:.

what wheels you going for on the red beast??

I'm not sure 100% just yet, I quite like the ones on Terrys blue car, I also like the split rim minilites to.

Who knows lol, When I can afford them it will probably be a rash choice as normal .

To be honest it was very difficult to tell what with the car being covered with a thick layer of primer and no door catches fitted.

It's defo the rear quarter that's the problem because the door fits perfect everywhere else.

Oh and just to add you can tell that it is the quarters that are out of position by measuring the panel gap in each door shut, The passenger side one has a bigger gap and fits a lot better but the drivers side panel has been pushed tight against the door post so is sitting low to the door line, I hope that makes any sense to you lot lol.

Thanks Russ ;).

At the moment it's laying on it's belly in the garage because my trolley jack has collapsed :eek:, I haven't managed to buy a new jack yet so it's looking a bit sorry for itself .

When I make some progress I'll get some photo's up.

Well after 3 months of doing nothing with my car I finally got of my very fat lazy arse I did some work on it today, I never thought I could spend 5 hours fitting two headlights but I did lol .

The main reason was that I spotted a few bolts that the body shop had left out that should of been holding the nose cones on, Plus I had to tap out all the head light bowl captive nuts and strip the wiring out of my old rusty bowls and fit it all the the nice new shiny ones I had bought from Moggy ;).

The previous owner had fitted a pair of head lights with H4 bulbs and a separate side lights, I've converted it all back to the standard sealed units for the time being because I don't want to be working out someone else's bodged wiring, I'll look into changing them for something a bit more modern once I've got it up and running.

I also started sorting out the engine wiring loom and fitting the petrol tank but I need to fit a new sender and paint the tank first.

Well I've fitted the fuel tank back in and put it up on stands to start sorting out the fuel lines,That's when I realised that it wasn't going to be as easy as I had first thought. I will need to take the exhaust/prop shaft/diff and gearbox off to do a good tidy job so that should keep me busy this week lol.

Can anybody tell me what's involved in swapping over to the S14 5 speed gearbox and the costs I might incur if I went down this route please ?.

I've ordered a new Carter fuel pump from the states because they seem to run a lot quieter than the Facet pumps I've seen here in the UK, Can anyone suggest a good quality fuel pressure regulator I can use on the return line please ?, I've been used to high pressure turbo/injected motors for the last 15 years so I'm not really up on what's needed for carb set ups.

Also does anybody have any ideas about what other models may provide me with bulb holders for the unused number plate light fitted to my 260 ?.

Thanks in advance for any info provided guys.

I think you will be able to glue any bulb holder in from a scrapper. The 240 is easier as it only needed an earth wire soldering on.

I dropped the exhaust and gearbox today wounding myself in the proses , I didn't realise that on my car the plate between the gearbox and the engine was in two halves :(, Both bits fell on my head one after the other :lol::lol::lol:, I now have a gaping wound in my forehead :lol::lol::lol:.

I've got the diff half way ready to drop as well and will get it out the way tomorrow, Who ever run the fuel and brake lines must of been having a Stevie Wonder moment :unsure:, I'll start running the new lines tomorrow I'll also need to find a spot for the new fuel pump.

Where abouts is the reverse switch wiring supposed to enter the car ?.

Rob,
Reverse light wiring comes out of main loom by steering shaft, held in place on bulkhead and trans tunnel by plastic covered metal tags, can get sheared off if bent too often!
