I still think that's one of the worst looking cars I've ever seen in my whole life :puke:.

It looks like some kind of dodgy bread van with some Mk2 Granada rear lights bolted on for good measure :confused:, God knows what was going through the mind of the deluded individual that actually wasted his time building it.

Thought I had seen that picture before.

Advert from Autosport dated 24/10/85 (so no point ringing the number!)

It looks pretty good in this picture, This must be before bodgy bill got his grubby little mits on it surely ;).

Why on earth he thought it might look better as a bread van god only knows .

Rob

 I just looked again and as you say their are different cars, Just got mixed up with them both being white and having the same big body kit fitted, Funny how two similar cars can end up with such a totally different out comes :D.

666 is the dutch car/janspeed/John rich/Paul Seburn/AllanCurruthers now BenStapley car. When Paul bought it from John Rich he wanted a road car that he could race so the car was roadyfied and re registered, painted white and that is how Paul sold it to Allan Carruthers.
Why Allan painted it yellow I have no idea.
The yellow reincarnation picture I think is at Pardon hairpin at prescott
The rear wing on the "bread van" is a copy of the rear wing that sits on the back of my car (not allowed to use in the mod prod classes though) and the body kit is the same as mine although I assume that they somehow lengthened the rear wheel arches to fit onto the 2+2.

No offence taken rob, re the comments about the look of the car. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and dont forget that in the 70's nearly every body kit used BIG arches to accomodate wide wheels. With the modern tyre technology there is no reason to run that width rubber anymore
I still think that this is the supposed janspeed race car that some one was trying to sell me in the late 90's

do you want a copy of the Ad as I have scanned it in anyway?

I also found a report in Autosport about an accident at Brands Hatch where Rex Greenslade spun the "290Z"at clearways and was heavily T Boned by Colin Charman's Midget. Its in the 1/12/77 issue page 55, and this is coincidently the issue with the 260Z two seater road test.

I can scan this in if you want a copy.

Very interested in the car, its different and I think worth saving, restoring.
Does anyone have any details of its exact whereabouts, ownership as I have holidays coming up and would like to go find it. North of Scotland and Orkney are two separate places and large areas to cover!!:driving:

See post #61 for your best lead. I have tried to contact the owner to advise him of this thread, but all my numbers are out of date...start your hunt in Kirkwall, Orkney is as much as I can say.

The photobucket photo link doesn't work for me but if it's the white one with a broken spine.........but imho, it isn't 'worth' saving - it has no pedigree, no amazing history - if you want one like it - buy a clean car and make one Blue Peter style !

its been a while since I was here but have found out some more about the car. It was the manalaty turbo originally owned by saad as 1982 mag article be put it to Janspeed engineering for kit and engine work. it was there for original look and again 5 years later for new look. It was done for appearing on a record sleeve in the early eighties.
Car was taken from Orkney without owners permission but was abandoned in North of Scotland when trailer it was on broke and was hidden in shed where photos were taken.
