Anyone know of this strange 1974 Z?

I think the car originally pictured IS the Manalaty turbo built by Janspeed. It was found by a well-known Scottish member down in Essex (near my old place in Basildon) and whisked off to a remote Scottish island where it has remained in storage ever since...

I might be wrong, but it looks sort of familiar...

It does look similar & there can't be that many idiots around who would do THAT to a Z.:D

Its whatever floats your boat

In my opinion do away with the blocked out rear windows give it a spectacular paint job And a hell of a lot of people would be proud to own it

Some might say the same thing about a group of around 75 Zs;)

I think that this is a car that I was offered a few years ago by a third party(not a club member) claiming to know where the original janspeed race car was. As I owned the race car at the time and still do I had a bit of fun with the guy by going along with the story and getting hime to send pics and details of the car
It is a janspeed kit that has been put onto the car. Not sure why they did what they did to the rear quarter lights!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are pics of how the car was meant to look in my gallery
Janspeed built the kit onto the car for the 1976 season

Yes but they look quite standard.:p

If anyone is really interested in this car let me know and I will scan a copy of Street Machine Circa 1982.

Was owned by a guy called Saad, I think the story goes that the Z club was going to visit the Janspeed Factory in Nov 1983, but Saad was racing a Porsche on his way there and went straight through the roundabout taking the front spoiler off so he never got to the factory. Burnsey may be able to confirm this story.

I was there with my 240Z V8 and got a set of Janspeed cufflinks as one of the "Best Z" prizes! Don't think the turbo car - one of Janspeed's proud conversions - turned up on the day, but don't remember the reason being given - there must be an article in one of the old black & white mags of the year...

Just checked out Ben's gallery and there's one there (the non 'van conversion') and it looks great. There's some fab photos in there actually, well worth a look.

Hmm now it appears that some people can see it's potential, eh Jack ;)

I think it would look great if someone re-installed the side window.

First we need to take the door off and bash the hinges back into place. Whilst we've got the door off we can fill the side mirror holes in and t-cut some of that grime off it.

There. That looks a bit better. What shall I fix now...

Okay. So we can't do any panel beating as such because it's fibreglass, therefore (after some serious t-cutting) we're gonna need to get the filler out and some white primer just to hide the crap a bit. Also we'll re-fit the petrol cap.

Cool. Where to next?

Right. Remove elephant from room and make good rear spoiler. Starting to look a bit like a Z now. Now it's gonna start getting really difficult to repair but we'll soldier on nonetheless.

I'll try the front end, maybe. We shall see...
