lol... It may have an uncracked dash, but I'd check all 'nuts n bolts' are in place before hacking down the motorway!..

last MOT.. Nearside Rear Wheel nut(s) missing (4.2.A.1e).

The black engine box is a lazy and cheap rattle can alternative to removing the engine, prepping the box, and spraying with a paint gun and quality automotive paint.

Yes, it is done in the states quite a lot because there is apparently an abundance of lazy people here.

Just sayin.....

Every classic Mustang you'll see has a black engine bay. It's the ones that ARE body colour which look strange on one of them ...

Z-cars, body colour engine bay looks mighty fine to me.

Realise it was probably standard in the US, but I really don't think that chrome strip down the side of the car adds anything to it at all. If anything it looks fussy and spoils the sleekness of the appearance in my opinion.

Back then, Fords and GM cars had black engine bays. GM cars even had black paint on the underside of their bonnets. Frosts sells Eastwood's "Underhood Black" paint for restorations. Chrysler car were the only ones with body coloured engine bays.

Nissan did it too with a lot of the Skylines and were often inconsistent with the combinations.
Some cars with the same exterior paint codes have different coloured bays.

Not standard Riddles ... but added by the dealers to make some more $$$$

I prefer the look without although my car does have them.

Over fussy, yes. Like the chrome bars fitted to the bumpers and the 240Z sidestripes (which mine also has)!

Riddles? Got a pet name for me now have you? Didn't know you cared!
I actually don't mind the 240Z side stripes but the chrome strip is a no-no for me.

Those side strips were dealer fitment as Fasty ( if we are on nicknames  said )
Anything to make a few extra bucks on the sale......

Even worse though, most I have seen are riveted on, not just glued.
Can you believe it FFS......

Why put holes in brand new factory bodywork ?
Unbelievable ! Only in America ( sorry Mike ;) )

Sorry, fat fingers! Riddles IS kinda catchy though!

Haven't examined mine closely to see how they're affixed. Why put holes in brand new bodywork? I don't know.

Worse though was the decision to drill four holes in a brand new hatch for the rear louvre fixings, just so it could be hinged up to clean the rear glass. I've seen some which fit INSIDE just on the glass area and go nowhere near the paint on the hatch ...

I have that fitting. But it is what it is. I wanted an original car - not one with every lump n' bump smoothed out, so I'm still happy ...

Totally agree with you on that point Chris, money hungry dealers in the States.

Seems half of the cars I've found had rivets and the other half were sticky.

The dealers contracted with private businesses to come out and add those to cars. A friend, and Zed owner, said that he had that same business back in the 80's where he would go to dealerships and add side moulding to new cars, both rivets and sticky. Now he hates them as well.

Wine were riveted on, oh and also the aluminium trims down each sill, about 30 rivets holding each side on
