2 more from the States

You're quick on the draw, Jonathan ! I did'nt know the Mag was out yet.

I bet you sit in that nice cosy Dealership Office with your feet up all day just reading the car Mags....

Oh yes that's just how it is Duncan.....;)

The cars you prepare and sell are great Z public attention-getters but the problem is no-one ever sees them again as they disappear into collections and go abroad as per Dubai.

Thats not strictly true - I bought a car from Duncan and it will be on view at every available opportunity, I am at 2 shows this month alone!

So when is this new "era" coming? Not so much a new era, more like other S30 markets been ahead of us for years. A few mag articles and a few US imported 240z's does (for me) not consitute a new "era". Plenty of UK spec. S30's/S30 owners out there the Zclub does not know about or drifted away (UK S30 owners [members]) on the Zclub are probably static, if not falling). The S30 market in the UK (and to an extent Europe) will always be limited. Yes promote the marque, but always going to be small fry.

Just a term (new era) one z club member has come up with.

If you don't believe it Ian, so be it and no-one is likely to see your Z anyway 'cept photos of in a garage on this forum.

This club is not the scene I'm 'harking' on about - this club is just a part and has a role to play if more active (is there a press/public relations rep ?).

Of course it's always going to be small fry, we're not MGs, Fords, Alfas or Porsches.......but that is what is attractive to new owners, those that until the new Zs came out hadn't noticed the earlier cars.

But stay cynical and if others join you, nothing will ever happen.......and maybe some of you prefer it that way.

If you believe in something - it will exist - be a little positive please.

its it a bit like buses !!!!!!!!!!!!! you wait ages for some to turn up and then a load turn up.
quality cars have been available but it is what people are willing to pay,i do not think the general perception of Zeds have changed but as parts become harder to get it makes sense to buy a complete car requiring little work.before the internet the zclub and zed restorers would have been the only resource for parts and info.these days people can get all the info etc from the net.call me old fashion but i like to meet other z owners as every car has a story .the problem with the lhd cars is not many people want them lhd so you need a rhd car for the conversion and they are just not about like they used to be.i sometime wish i had been around the zed scene when there was more cars and no internet

The difference is that these are planned to be brought in regularly - true, they cost more than they did but that is because the supply of good cars isn't what it was - one has to dig deeper and they're also better appreciated over there too - they cost more at base !

For the rest I agree with you although it wasn't easier before Internet and certainly not to get press attention, raise the public perception and organise events, communication.

Quite a wonder that Goodwood '92 happened at all................remember that The Z Club started it all, before tuning, drifting, Internet, Devil Z....................!

Up, if only because your RHD wrecks'll be needed and are in short supply !

Spoke with William yesterday, going over there next weekend to have alook at the Z's there will be 3 more there by then. The red rebello 240 sounds very interesting !!! William is very taken by this car he said that he used it quite alot while he was over in the states on his extended visit due to the ash clouds, he says it drives far better than any other modified 240 that he has driven in his life. Not seen it in the flesh yet but feel I want it already :( & the price seems cheap to me.

Yep - definitely worth a look as William is an old hand at judging cars before he buys. I feel the Rebello needs to be de-tuned by it's lucky new owner - it'a a bit too lary in looks !

First time I saw the pics I did not like the colour coded wheels, but now feel when seen in the flesh they may be ok, they are very nice wheels & they suit the car, if not then it would be black or graphite centres for me.

You're effin dreaming unless you're a better salesman than he !

Believe me I have had many an excellent deal with William & DJ over the years, don't forget I live on the welsh border  With William I had first refusal on FFA when it resurfaced at an unbelievable price, me a better salesman than William as far as Z's go I would say yes, I found customers for the last 2 he brought over within a few days, but anything else no William has always keeps ahead of the game big style !!!! hence moving away from Z's, William took his eye off the Z scene many years ago to concentrate on other things because the market was dead, now he is back dabbling with Z's in a smallish way for now I think. Good on him for giving people a chance to buy a rust free car at a great price with no risk involved

Perhaps he's back because it'a a new era.....nobody imports for charity and Zs have begun to be seriously appreciated recently.

All that rollocks that they've been available for the last 20 years - sure, but they've just dribbled across by private buyers.

What do you mean you found him two customers for the last two ? Is this a case of two RAF pilots claiming the same kill ?

But all said, this IS the perefect opportunity without risk to acquire a rust free complete car !

Samuri be careful, what is it about the car that appeals to you? You already have a nice car, in your own words the best you have ever had. Is your's lhd, if not can you live with a lhd car?

Ok the engine will be good but what are you going to do with the car that will need that power?

Personally for £17k I would be unhappy with the following details:

The imbalance of overiders only on rear, spoiler only on front. Those wheels , the apperance of the rear silencers is a bit agricultural on such a sleek body. Also with all that power are the rear drum brakes appropriate and the R180 diff up to it?

Shame really I was in Shrewsbury yesterday, it would have been worth a look.

So what happened?? What made you turn that opportunity down then.

Oh and keep us informed when you go see....

FFA required a fair bit of restoration back then, CHL was there at the same time & needed very little to complete the extensive restoration it was under going so I bought that one instead . I now wish I had gone FFA though :(. Still onward & upward :D.

Jonathan - about five years ago, over the phone I was offered LAL from the Arthur Carter Collection - the 240Z Samuri which raced at the Brands 1,000kms back in '77, I think it was, in the hands of Clive Richardson.

The statement was that it needed Restoration; interesting because my understanding was ( and still is ), that it was subsequently destroyed in a major shunt and was scrapped.

Lo and behold, just about two years ago it appeared ( or at least, the Registration appeared ) on a 'Works Replica' Rally 240Z at Bonhams Auction. As it happens, it was a pretty poor attempt at presenting an Historic Rally 240Z, but it begs the question - why not restore it ( or re-create it, which is what it was really ), as the pukka thing - as the Road/Racer that it was in the 70's.

It didn't get a decent bid either, so perhaps the dubious provenance queered it's pitch.

Here we go again with the Samuri minefield !!! they are best left alone nowadays in my opinion, too much dodgy stuff around, best bet is buy clean lhd convert to rhd & add the goodies of your choice. Sorted. You will know exactly what you have got then.
