The paintwork is amazingly good. I just know I'm going to scratch it while working on it...
Which would you have taken first Mike?Went in the garage today and fired up my Nissan and metro, left them running just make sure everything is still working etc. Would have gone for a quick spin but the weather has been horrible today.
Welcome back John, haven't seen you for a long time.I thought I'd tackle a nice easy job today...............replace the leaking heater matrix!!!!!
I noticed yesterday some water running down the side of the tunnel. Not much but there was a drip every few seconds. It was dripping from both sides. Took the lower air ducts off and found lots of water inside so came to the conclusion that the matrix had a hole in it. As I like a bit of a challenge I thought I'd remove as little as I could get away with. Removing the fan gave me easier access to remove all the heater hoses and water control valve. The side panel is held on with 5 self tapping Philips screw around it perimeter. 2 are easy to remove with a small philips racked driver. To get access to the other 3 I removed the 6 10mm bolts holding the heater box to the car. With the box movable I could get these 3 out. After disconnecting the lower vent control rod, the side cover will pull off. Mine was very tight and needed a bit of levering at the bottom to get it unstuck. You then have access to the heater matrix which just pulls out. Once on the bench I pressurized it to 15psi just to confirm where it was leaking and it held pressure. Well that was a waist of 3 hours. I've now come to the conclusion that the back hose could have been leaking and the water was running along the pipe and into the heater which is why I couldn't see it. Putting it all back together didn't take long but I now need a new hose. This is the last original hose on the car so needed changing anyway. This is listed as the heater outlet hose. I have quite a few nissan inlets but no outlet hoses. Anyone know of a source for these?
Nice, what paint colour did you use where did you get the dome?Got this wee beauty reinstalled after some paint and new domeView attachment 48837
I need one too but was going to wait until I needed a few more items before I ordered. Happy to add to my order and share postage if that’s the route you want to take
Nice, what paint colour did you use where did you get the dome?
Would have taken the metro first as the nissan is the last car out. Its not easy when you have 3 cars to move before you can get the nissan out.Which would you have taken first Mike?
I may well take you up on the offer thanksHey
The dome was 3D printed from a design on thingiverse (If you need one I can do one for you ?! just PM me )
The paint was just something I found on amazon that I was experimenting with

Whats your plan long-term to protect the paint? PPF might be a good solution and the best time to do it is when the paint is unmarked
