What did you do to your Z this week?

Decided I need to do something about the small rust bubble forming on the dog leg so ordered a cheap £22 WiFi borescope on Amazon and sent it through the holes in the interior.

Thankfully it seems the inner structure isnt affected but there is a section of sponge wedged in there that is seemingly caused the rust to form. Now just need to order a replacement panel and find somewhere to do the work.

Any recommendations in the South east?

I've got some dogleg panels if you get stuck.

A decent repair shop would not need a repair panel for that, they would just make up a section.

Yeah I guess but I was going to have it opened up fully to remove the small amount of corrosion inside so figured a repair panel would be easiest.

Just fitted this.

For anyone after spoilers I can recommend Classic Composites. He didn’t make this to order as already had it in stock but was 2 weeks delivered (from Europe) from point of order and the fitment and finish is really good.

Spent the day putting together the Apex engineered front control arm kit. Found myself down the rabbit hole adjusting all the arms to fit together correctly and then realised I had forgotten to install the bump steer spacers . Got an alignment appointment on Monday so need to get it sorted!

I had a personal delivery of my Zstory exhaust by Sean Dezart. Good to meet face or face and looking forward to getting the Zstory exhaust on my restoration

Decided not to fit the bump steer spacers in the end, the Apex LCA's seem to correct the upward angle of the stock items with the lowering springs. The LCA and tie rod are parallel which certainly wasn't the case before!

Not looking forward to driving it to the alignment shop as I'm sure both side are extremely wonky!

Walked around it while sorting some bits and bobs with the Chamois Sport and my new run around, '03 Rover 75 1.8 - a surprisingly good car and cheap. So good in fact I'm picking up it's slightly younger, more athletic brother on Saturday, '05 MG ZT 190.

No Z updates other than that door I’ve been working on in the Dixie thread is almost done, but for first time in 2.5 years I’ve made it to the USA. Had a fruitful visit to the supermarket and the Hot Wheels bin, and some post was waiting for me:

ARP bolts are Toyota 22R for use in the 18RG twin cam engine to go in the Celica; car collection was what I’d hoped - more of the JDM series. A G nose Z, Honda N600, Kenmeri Skyline, and Supra GR. Didn’t spot any others, but hopefully in the summer the range will be refreshed and I’ll score a few more variations. :) Will probably use the summer visit to stock up on more parts for shipping back home in the luggage!

Off to Vermont tomorrow from Massachusetts for a long weekend, then back to MA till end of month. Once back in U.K., Z plans are finish both doors to skimmed and epoxy primed level, same for OS front wing, then bonnet bodywork and prime.
