370Z yes or no ?

Big, BIG yes !

And at the expense of being treated like a stab in the back, I'll say it's better looking than a 350Z any day !

Whereas the 350Z is cute, the 370Z is mean and aggressive, just like a 240Z - I love it and can't wait 'til it's been around a few years and I can afford it.........

A Maybe! To me, the 350 is a pure design (like the 240), whereas the 370 is a copy that doesn't work as well!!!! Have you seen one Sean?

It's a YES from me. I have seen one and they look brutal. A lot of people think it's too fat but it's smaller than the 350 and although has a bigger engine, weighs exactly the same. Proper modern muscle-car. I'll be in my 50s before I can afford one but it's something to look forward to.

Seen one and been in one.;) But I can't tell you where.....yet.:coolgleam: But it was at the same event where I sat in the new GTR.....

I have to say, I wasn'y bowled over by the 350 when I saw it for the first time, but it grew on me BIG time! Maybe the 370 will do the same. But for now I'm content with my 350

Looks a bit Mr Blobby in the flesh and close up. Maybe looks better on the open road, the jury is out. Loved it when I saw photos of it. It will grow on me though...

The GTR does look the nuts!

I believe it's actually 20 to 30 kgs lighter than than the 350Z which is a step in the right direction.

This one feels more snug, I think it has a slightly better rear loading area and the front is better treaed than that of the 350Z which I always felt was finished off quickly on a Friday afternoon.

I don't want this to turn into a 350 v. 370 contest though please - that's as unfair as compairing the 280ZX to the S30s and the Z32 to the Z33 - they're not sold in parallel and the one paved the way for the other.

If the 370 is a massive success it's due primarily to the reputation regained by Nissan with the 350Z !

I have to say though that Nissan need to look at their interior materials both for the 370 and Skyline if they want to compete against Porsche etc 'cos most owners will never reach the limits of their car so will also consider quality of construction and interior 'feel' and there, I think that the plastics used are of Renault Megane quality.........:(

The 370Z is a great car and good value for money. I've read different things about the weight - some say it's lighter, some say they've kept the weight down to the 350Z level by fitting a lighter tailgate etc. I'm sure any weight difference is a small perecentage of the overall so not noticable.

To me it's not as pure in design as the original - I didn't like the bonnet hump the 350Z grew either. A lot of designs get fussy as they change them e.g. E Type, MX5, Miura.

The one I saw on Saturday was silver and looked tall and chunky, rather than the early 350Z which is low and slender.

Not been in one so can't comment about performance, but the extra horses would be handy. If they are able to carry a bit more luggage and have better interior build quality and a smooth clutch all the better.

I need a 24hr test drive.

It's Muira - sacriledge - I shall appease the car Gods with a sacrificial white bull to appease them !

Coincidentally, the one I tried was white and it's looks effing good - silver is so bland amongst modern saloon cars now - it's a sports-car - stand-out ! I'm not so sure about the little function display to the left of the dials - it looks fussy and 'added on' but I suppose is ergonomically efficient !

sacriledge

...sacrilege I believe.

And surely this would end the Muira vs Miura debate:

And back on topic - IMO the 370Z back end is too upright and stunted and on front 3/4 view makes the rear disappear and unbalances the whole look of the car. I used to think the 350Z was a bit stubby, but seen side by side with a 370Z it is positively sleek.
Interior gizmos are an improvement and Nissan have addressed trim quality as far as they are able within the constraint of keeping the price below £30K.
I, for one, am saddened by the loss of the iconic high level rear strut brace - the bit of tin on the floor of the 370Z is no compensation...

Oh fug - I must be having an 'off' morning - sorry oh Gods - I shall burn my Z in offering.....and sorry Rob (thankfully I wasn't too rude) and I still love the small bit I watched of you passing and shooting off into the distance with your economical Z. Have you calculated your on-track consumption - I have for mine ?

Back on topic - I like the way the 370 already looks 'fast' when standing still and 'glued' to the road - "rear diappearing......."

the big problem is that is they did modernise the 240z properly it would end up looking like a porsche 911

When you read through the specs for the 370 they've used more aluminum to eliminate some weight than they did with Z33.

I'm still stunned by that design. Someone needs to produce kits for 240 components - I'd like one.
