i think the z should have been kept small like the origanal instead of pandering to fat arsed yanks that struggle to get in them.the mx5 is a world beater and a tiny car to boot.but for me the 240,260 and to an extent 280zx will always be the only z cars.not a slur on 300s 350s.just my opinion

It's a curvy car and so needs a lighter flat colour to show it off. I had this conversation with Chris at Z009 (who has the widest 300ZX I've ever seen, but it's a dark metallic colour and unless you're close up and looking for it you don't realise just how much of a difference it makes). The 240 was a curvy, sexy car and in flat colours (even primer) you see it so well shown off but (and this isn't a criticism) metallic colours, whilst giving a gorgeous finish just hide all of the 'drama' of the curves. The 370 is also a dramatic, curvy car but in metallic colours this is hidden (IN MY OPINION, I'M NOT PROFESSING TO BE CORRECT).

Agreed they got it so right with the early Z design, then lost the plot abit after that, I am not knocking the later models though, if I had the brass would have in my collection a 280zx 2 seater & a Z32.

I saw the 370 in white and it looked SO much better than that (goofy) blue ! There are some that criticise the rear - that it's 'cut-off' but it doesn't seem to me to be so and anyway, what are the S30s if not cut-off ?

But its' stance - isn't it a bit like a Z4........?

They should also market the Renault Wind concept car as a Nissan Fairlady Roadster !

Keep it neat, light and cheap - three models :

Fairlady - 120bhp
Fairlady S - 140-150bhp
Fairlady SR - 180bhp

drop in a four cylinder n/a 1.8 or 2litre engine and no interior frills ! Back to basics and kill the MX-5 !

Its a negative from me I am afraid. Just looks like a few naff changes, updates of the 350z, although I would need to see it in the flesh, judging by those pics, there are a lot more cars I would choose for similiar money than the 370

Nah still prefer the 350, design wise there is not much different but what they have done. I do not like.

I am liking all new cars, less and less, they seem to be losing their aggressive stance and going all namsy pansy. Instead of being masculine and aggressive thay are all becoming girly with smooth curves and accesorised to the hilt. Not raw enough for me.

................but this one is more aggressive than the 350Z ! I think they've gone in the right direction - lighter, more powerful and ready to eat up the competition !

Just had a look at the actual specs, presuming the UK specs are the same.
It's lighter (tare weight) than on 2008, but not say an earlier model 2002/2003/2004 being the lightest of the lot. As per my brochure I still have for my 2004 1467kgs. Drag co-efficient has gone up marginally to .31, earlier models were .29, the petrol tank is smaller at 72 litres, as opposed to earlier 80 litres. It's got a higher ground clearance 114cms, as apposed to 108cms, bigger turning circle with the longer wheel base, now up to 10 metres from 9.

As per Aussie site as Kiwi site is diverting there.

I see from this the Bridgestone's we all love to hate have been dropped, replaced with Yokohama's. Anyone know which model Yokohama?

agreed, the 370Z is HEAVIER than the first 350Z model, lighter than the latest (bump on bonnet one to be clear).

I just can't get round the styling of it to be honest, the exterior is appalling!!! it "tried too hard" in my opinion, sits too high and has too many shapes, angles in all the wrong places (roof, headlights, rear lights, front teeth, rear bumper... all wrong!!

The interior is very very nice compared to the 350Z though, that's a big improvement indeed. It might be a better drive too, but upon seeing it in the flesh/sitting in it, I decided to go ahead with my FI project on the 350Z....:D

I can't pass judgement yet, not seen one in the flesh. They don't release them here until next week. And even the massive 40th Anniversary of the Zed meet we had early this month Nissan bought along an R35 not the 370z. Pity really, as most have seen an R35 now, over a year old news. Zed meet, should have been a zed.

.......does it look "Crossfire-ish" at the back ?

You just remind me of one of Clarkson's immortal quotes "...like a dog squatting to have a s**t". He's always funnier when he slags off cars you don't care about.

Your feelings about the new Z ?

This is the man (Clarkson) who slagged off Nissans' cars for years until he actually got in one !
