What did you do to your Z this week?

Like the engineering Jon.

I spent the morning removing the side trim from the 280z and welding up the rivet holes. I stripped the rest of the car to a shell yesterday in readiness for a repaint.

I finished off one complete seat with the new foam (and the old original - sound - cover)

Onto the other one now. Amazingly, the thin yellow foam which covers the metal seat frame hadn't turned to dust over 45 years so I reused it. ...

I also stripped down my 280Z and sent it off to the Painter.
Compression tested the engine before pulling it for a light overhaul and tart up!

What with moving house and trying to sort out the new garage I managed to squeeze in some Z time this weekend :D and borrow a mates ramp to change the gearbox oil, test fitted the new seats, they need a bit of work on the mounting points but they are comfy and should keep me safe on the mountain roads, I have got some nice vents to put in but haven't got the heart to cut up my new seats to fit them yet, also wired up my fans to a couple of relays and temp switch, Now I've only got to rewire the old USA rear lights and fit orange LED's for indicators then I can MOT it

Those headers look a little shiny:D

At least that should fix itself when he actually finishes and starts using the damn thing! :D

This is still the Z project I look most forward to being finished.

As for my progress, had a good weekend on Dixie. Got the dash out in a surprise session on Saturday (I was allowed out to play when I wasn't expecting it) and then followed up on Sunday with a lot more parts stripping facilitated by the dash removal. Will add photos later.

Found some evidence of rust through at the seam between the inner wing and the bulkhead though, courtesy of the usual US battery acid leakage. This area will likely be media blasted to clarify the extent of the repair needed. Irritating but not entirely unexpected. The surface rust around the battery area was heavy, but no holes were apparent until I started to get medieval with a screwdriver. It's still not bad, but will need attention once the tray is removed.
